Reflashing over a Linux flashed X3 chip

So I purchased a very nicely modified box, with an Xecuter 3 chip, pro switch and fan, with 200gb harddrive. Unfortuntately, the company I ordered from, flashes the chip with cromwell linux bios, so it doesnt come stock with the X3 bios or bios blue screen. I turn it on, static, but the switch lights up, fan works, all the hardware is good.

Now, I just need to reflash the Xecuter flash bios, and then flash the newest X3 bios, and then put on the newest dash. I've read all the tutorials I can find, and if I can get that blue screen to show up, I have all the files and dvd's burnt to take it from there. Unfortunately, I havent been able to get to that point.

I could go with a linux type set up, but I'd prefer a more friendly OS, one that really is made for the xbox and goes well with the X3 chip. If anyone has any info on how to set up an iso CD that will boot and "reset" or reflash the chip and hd to the point where I can put to use all the X3 and Evo files I have handy, I'd greatly greatly appreciate the help.

I don't think that you'll need all that.

Try the Backup Bios. Press power, and quickly after you start to hold down the power button press and ALSO hold down the Eject button.

Effectively you are holding BOTH buttons at the same time, but you have to press power a little earlier than Eject is all.

I HIGHLY doubt that this company would have been retarted enough to erase the Backup FlashBios 3.0.1 Bios. (It IS legal after all.)

Happy modding!

Ok, tried that, got the X logo to go from blue to blue/red on the switch, still same static on the screen. Tried resetting via controller, Lan light flashes twice, still static. Thanks for the advice though. Redoing this returns the X logo back to blue, no difference on the screen.

As soon as I received the box. The mod company is one listed on the front of teamexecuter's website, so I'm sure they did good work. In fact, I don't see any pain in listing the company, it was done by modchipman.com, very timely fashion. I'm not sure if anyone is familiar with the way they flash their chips prior to shipment but this might help in getting the box to work. The xbox is hooked up to the television via component cables through a switchbox, I simply took out my stock box and plugged in my modded xbox and turned on the power... static. Jagged lines, slanting from left to right, nothing more than that since I received the box.

O.k, take away your component cables, plug in your original m$ ones. You should be able to get video working. Might be a setting you need to work on before using component or something. I never bother with any of them myself. Picture quality is fine on the stock cbales anyway!!

Ah, knew it wouldnt be so easy... got it flashed with the latest X3 bios, now it loads up, looks like MS dash is coming up, see Xecuter rox my box for 2 seconds, then No Xecuter 3 chip detected!.... switches at both On On off off off, and off off off off off

First thing is that theres no 1M bank located at all off's,

1st 1M bank is off on on off off (since you have the pro switch first switch is protect.)2nd 1M bank is off off on off off, (again, first one being your protect)

What model is your xbox? if it's a 1.6B use the 2nd bank. If it's anything else then use, the 1st bank.

Boot into backup by holding both eject & power (purple X on switch) then flash your bios again.

Notes: if you've got a 1.6 or 1.6B you'll need their version of the bios 1.0-1.5 has the standard X3 bios.

Hope this helps you

Its a brand new xbox so whichever version is currently on the shelf is the xbox is probably the version xbox I'm running. The bios dvd got a bit scratched up and dirty, so I'm burning a new bios dvd and I'll let you know how it goes with those switch settings.

It really is in your best interest to find out which version xbox you have. You need to use a different bios on a 1.6 or a 1.6B to that which you'd use on any other xbox. That could be your problem. Crack open the box and head over to xbox-scene.com
they have a good tut to show you which version you've got. Check it out.
