Just wondering if there is a release date for the Xapt3r 1.6 (for 1.6 and 1.6b) boards?

I recently watched a friend mod his 1.6, screwing the LPC rebuild. Would much perfer a non-soilder for the crystal box I have. Have the X3 and LPC rebuild board but am a little hesitant in attempting this.

cheers

Take your time, and read up on the tutorials. Its not as hard as everyone makes it out to be. Also its a lot more secure if you solder it in. Do you really want to open up your xbox everytime you move it because the solderless adapter came off its pins?

actually i had an xbit and never had to adjust it in the time that i had that chip installed. keep in mind it went to about 4 lans, as well as on the airplane with me for my 2 week trip in mexico. i cant attest to how secure, or how well the xapt3r keeps the connection, but i know my xbit did a fine job when i had it.

edit: plus i doubt team xecuter would release a product that would require the user to constantly be opening their xbox to make work correctly. because it would just serve as a 25$ example as to why NOT to go solderless ;)

i have done about 7 solder mods and about 10 solderless ones
and only 1 of the solderless ones has come loose needing re tightening

so yes its rare but it does happen

I had a solderless X2, that gave me problems with losing contact. I had used the supplied screw and screwed it into the plastic standoff, but it would always find a way to work it out when the Xbox was moved around a bit. I finally got tired of it, and to the Dremel to the standoff. I then went to <insert home improvement store here - Lowes, Home Depot, etc> and bought the smallest nut, bolt, and set of washers I could find. Stacked some washers up in various configurations with the nut and bolt until I was pleased with the way it all fit together, and tightened that bitch down. After that, it didn't budge. I had the head of the bolt on the bottom side of the board. Your mileage may vary, and I don't see how this could screw anything up, but I take no respnosibility for you screwing up...... blah blah blah..... 8)

Re: Replacing DVD Eye

nope, the lasers aren't the same

however, you can use a benq laser for a lite-on

similarly, hitachis and samsungs use the same laser

however, those two pairs are the only swappable lasers
