I flashed over my FlashBIOS with X3 3294 successfully, since my Xbox is a 1.6b the backup and other 1MB bank (on, on, off, off) don't work. If I ever want to update the BIOS how can this be achieved? Is it possible for me to use the X3 Config BIOS tools to flash over the X3 3294 with FlashBIOS 3.0.3?

X3 Config Live can flash to any bank using HTTP, FTP, HDD or Disc and you can also update your backup bios with FlashBIOS 3.0.3.

What you should of done initially was boot up to OFF ON OFF OFF then switch to ON ON OFF OFF before you start to flash the bios.

First Thought:
I have two copies of FlashBIOS 3.0.3 but one rings in at 1MB and the other at 256Kb. What is the difference? I realize the backup BIOS has to be 256Kb but why is FlashBIOS produced in these two flavors?
/\ I realized it is made in various sizes to allow for flexibility when deciding which bank is best in the users situation.

What exactly is the "switching" procedure? Would it be booting under FlashBIOS in bank Off, On, Off, Off then switching to bank On, On, Off, Off while the system is running before performing the flash?

You can select a bios (Search Switch Settings) while the xbox is on or off, but when it is off you are selecting the bios bank to boot up to.
When you change the switches while it is on, you are selecting the bios bank to flash to using FlashBIOS.

With the X3 bios running, you don't need to select the switches for flashing to different bios banks, which is done by selecting a bios bank with the software.

FlashBIOS is just 256k. The 1MB is just reading the first 256K still.
You modchip comes in default with 2 versions
FlashBIOS 3.0.1 (Works fine for Xbox version 1.0 -1.6)
FlashBIOS 3.0.3 (Works fine for Xbox version 1.0 - 1.5 and 1.6B) Not 1.6

Your backup bios is FlashBIOS 3.0.1, so if you have a 1.6b you should update it with FlashBIOS 3.0.3.

Just to answer this properly.
You would probably never want to do this, since you would want to leave X3 3294 on because it does everything you need...

Instead... as a backup, make sure you backup bios works and you can have FlashBIOS 3.0.3 there as I keep mentioning.

I know of the importance of having a backup.

screw up + no backup = useless mod chip.

Thanks for your help
