Yeah....ummm....if you designed your Xtender-killer so that it had rails for removable drive bays, that would freakin rule all. Also, perhaps try to add some sort of functionality to run the statistics of the hard drive, i.e. size, rpms, which drive is being used (perhaps allowing them or their position to be given custom names), etc. through the x3lcd on boot, or perhaps even afterwards if it suits some people.

Re: Removable Drive Bay(s) in the Team X Version of the Xten

I'd love to see a self-contained multi-hdd enclosure. It could contain the switching circuitry, cooling fan(s), and indicators. A short UDMA cable (rounded?), power cable, and a signal wire (digital control?) would be enough to connect it to the xbox. Any other interface/control functions could be made to fit where the stock HDD normally resides.

Whatever Team X comes up with, I hope it's soon :) I'm looking forward to removing this over-priced garbage (x-tender) from my xbox.

Something similar to this could be used for connecting an external enclosure. There doesen't seem to be anything else out there for ide though.

New to modding, may have runied my 360 with dvd drive swap

Hello all,

I am new to the forum and to 360 modding. I have done a hard drive upgrade, which went well on my working 360. Here is my situation ( I did try to use the search function and I could not find what I was looking for):

So my original 360 died a year ago (RROD) and I decided to xclamp fix it. Didn't work, I think this motherboard is fried. Friend gives me his RROD 360, I xclamp that, and I get it to to the dashboard. Only problem with this one is I get the "open tray" disc error and dvd drive won't open or close (Dvd drive is a Hitachi 0047DJ) . I knew better, but I put in the dvd drive from previously dead 360 (Tos/Sam ver. A ms25) into my friends 360 and now I get 3 RROD again. Questions:

Am I screwed?
Can I do anything to get friends dvd drive recognized in 360 again?
Can I spoof the Tos/Sam to hopefully be recognized by the 360?

Sorry for the long post, but I always feel the more info the better. Thanks for any help that may be given and I will continue to search for answers.

Simply replacing the DVD drive, even without spoofing it, would not cause a console to break (i.e. get the RRoD). X-clamp fixes usually don't last more than 1-2 weeks. A good reflow can last more than a year. A good reball can last many years (reballing is considered the permanent RRoD fix).

You can spoof your Samsung drive as a Hitachi. Make sure you back-up the Samsung drive's firmware and read the original firmware from the Hitachi drive. Just follow the Jungle Flasher tutorial.

The motherboard from your old Xbox 360 is probably not fried - a good reflow or reball will probably bring it back to life (the x-clamp fix doesn't work for every error and is only temporary).

If the drive you put into the Xbox 360 is not spoofed or is not the original drive, the console should still boot up, the drive should still open and close and be able to play DVDs (this will confirm there is no connection problems with the drive and motherboard).
