Removing the mod chip

ok, i want to remove my xbox mod chip, its a Xecuter 2, but i want to play live, i was wundering, could i just cut the grey d0 wire and disable the mod chip that way? im a real n00b so i have no idea, exept from the tuts ive read.:(PS please dont flame me with stuff like "Ur a noob" and "Get out!"

Seriously, you should either have a jumper or switch setting for your chip to disable it, or as you've already suggested, disconnecting the d0 should disable it. I would check it by trying to boot a backup with the d0 wire disabled tho. (It shouldn't work!)

thanks, ill try that, i heard about the switch, but it doesnt work for me, ill help u get a iPod ;) Buuuuut there link doesnt wok\rk :(

If the switch doesn't work (i.e it always boots enabled), then it could be either a fault on the switch itself of the d0 connection may be damaged or bridged.

ok, ive been looking at the tuts, i dont feel confident to de solder, even after ur videos, so if i cut the d0 wire, can i play xbox live?

If you're booting from the retail BIOS then yes, you can use Xbox Live. Cut the d0 wire and try to boot from a backup. Hopefully it won't work. If this is the case, you should be safe to use Xbox Live.
