Bungies Respone To What There Gonna Do About Gay Standbiers.

Q:How does your cheat fix address suspend modem cheaters?

A:Simple. If they do it more than once (obviously a person could press that button once by accident so we give them a single pass) we will send an update to their Xbox BIOS rendering their system unusable for a period of up to one year.

Isn't this crap I know it dosent have to do with modding much, but dosen't breech xbox live contract on M$'s part, or isnt this staight up illegal. To ban you from live is one thing buy to steal $150 from someone is wrong. I know standbying is wrong, and I really don't like it, but that is really gay of M$.

Good thing we don't have to use the stock Microsoft BIOS, eh? :)

I agree. I do not understand how they could even possibly legally do this. Banned from Live, yes. Banned from using the XBox? No. That is totally and completely overkill.

The customer bought the product, believing that they could play games on it. To remove that capability (in the stock XBox...) makes it a completely useless paperweight. Where did you find this article? I think it's all hype. There is no way that is accurate.

And if it is accurate, this is my message to everybody on this site: BUY SONY'S PS3! I don't care how you feel about them, if what halomaster7777 says is correct, Microsoft is the lowest form of scum on the planet. Halo 3 is not worth dealing with a company that attempts to exercise that much control over your wallet.

Ok maybe it is a joke but you would be pretty F'ed up if they did do that. O and standbying is in most online games, most modems have a standby or internet suspendend button. It pretty much shuts your internet off. If you do it in a game and you hae connection host you can move while nobody else can.

I agree with you. They seemed overly pissed off in that weekly what's update. I think Bungie is becoming too influenced by Bill Gates. Then again, it takes less work to not cheat, so why get upset over it.

it's actually in the contract that you agree to when signing up for xbox live. They can send you an update that will can render your xbox useless for some period of time. Pretty stupid, but it may be possable to remove it by ftping into your xbox. To my knowlege updates can only go on the HD, as my stock bios has never been updated, and If they could, I think they would. (having the xbox have the ability to remotely reflash the stock bios would present all sorts of security risks, soft modding would be a hell of a lot easier)

I wish I could still play Halo 2 online, that's the only reason I bought it. Halo 2 singleplayer sucks ass, and not just becasue of the ending.

Either my couch or my chair.
well, the flashing of a bios is not possible unless the write lines are connected. also on a 1.6 theres no way (that we know of) to reflash onboard bios.

Good post. Very true. I don't believe there is a way to remotely flash the stock bios chip. If the unbelievable hardware hackers that designed the modchips can't do it without wire and a serial port, there is no way Microsoft can do it simply through the internet. Otherwise, just like RealestDeMo said, soft modding would be a hell of a lot easier.

Besides, has anybody actually ever heard of this occuring before? I don't think so... it would be too much bad publicity for Microsoft.

This is not a lie infact, my cousin was banned from Live as well as his XBOX even running under normal Non-Connected conditions, except he cant use it for 6 months, not 12. I agree, playing Head-to-Head with a person standbying to get a 10-0 game is outrageously rediculous. But he was banned from Live Services and Gameplay for a Month, for some reason though he is still able to use DVDs with his attachment [He doesnt have it modded so hes a Dongle user] fine, however. Its simple guys, Microsoft are fags for doing this, but you've also got to understand that there is a way to avoid this, and no I'm not taking sides...but...DON'T STANDBY OR CHEAT AND YOU WONT BE SCREWED OVER!

Dude! They really did that to him? For cheating in a video game?!

I figured they banned you from Live... but removing your ability to play entirely is LAME!!! Okay guys: next time, buy Sony or Nintendo. Microsoft's power has gone to their heads. That doesn't make logical sense. Screw them: what if your ten-year-old brother was messing around, and was cheating on Live? Because of that, they remove your ability to use the console?! I mean it: that company can go die. Buy Sony and Nintendo. I'm going to call Microsoft XBox tech support and give them an earful.

Well, I was going to buy the PS3 anyway, but thanks for the reassurance linuxn00b2004. If this is true, that's really messed up for Microsoft to do this to people. Although it wouldn't surprise me at all.
