LITEON DG-16D4S - SLIM Replace 0225 drive in SLIM console with phat drive (lite-on 74850c)

I have a Xbox 360 Slim console with a locked 0225 drive lying around here which I want to flash. But since I noticed I need an unlock kit costing €60-70, I was thinking..: can't I just use my spare Lite-On 74850c, cut the plastic parts to make it fit in the case, and just use that one? That would save me loads of money, and it's still a perfectly good drive...

Why not just send the drive to someone to unlock? Would be far cheaper!

You can't swap drives any more.

No to flash your drive you need to keep with the same model. Spoofing is no longer supported. To change drive types you would have to RGH the console first.

So no way to change drives and access live

If you are not playing online and your dash version is below 13599 then you can still spoof the drive but it is not as simple as you think by just cutting off the plastic legs. What you will find is that the sata and power connections will need modifying as well so I would also recommend to you as the OP has to send your 0225 to get it unlocked by a pro.

However, if you really wish to insist on the phat drive then I remember seeing a tut somewhere with a step by step guide on how you can do it. As usual ask doctor google and I'm sure he has the remedy for you.
