My console is unmodded and even after getting a new laser, my system would read and install older games perfectly and at least run all XGD3 game but struggle with installing them. Since putting a new one in nothing has changed, what can I do to try fix this error? Also the installs tend to fail at around the same percent from a fresh boot (i.e Halo CE Anni goes to between 11-14% etc).

What can I do to solve this?

Did you remember to remove the solder ball from the laser before installing it? The only reason I ask is most sellers on ebay leave them on so they will need to be removed once you receive the laser otherwise the laser will not work.

Thanks for the advice guys. Firstly when I ordered it I asked for the solder to be removed and since putting it in as I mentioned already, its playing discs as it did before. Also no point in replacing the drive, they cost about the third of used 4gb 360 and the system itself has seen a lot of abuse.

Sometimes it can come down to laser adjustment and if you cleaned and oiled the rails it rides on.
Interesting can you give me more info on this?
