Replacement DG-16D4S PCB & Lens Question

I installed a replacement (Unlocked Xecuter DG-16D4S Replacement PCB), I had problems with discs not being read, someone pointed out the laser might be at fault, well I ordered one not knowing that there are 2 types for Liteon DG-16D4S (G2R2 & G2R) and they are not interchangeable, I ordered the G2R and when I checked my lens it was G2R2, my question is really for the Xecuter team if, since I replaced my original PCB does it still matter which type of lens (G2R2, G2R) I get?


This brings up another question, Would there have been a issue with compatibility between a G2R2 and the replacement PCB that gave me the errors?

what error were u getting?
and to answer ur question u r going to need a G2R2. a G2R wont work w/ ur drive.
I have brand new G2R2 if u need any hit me up.

im going to say yes it does matter as the lens details are stored in your firmware via the serial information, also did you remove the anti static solder ball on the new lens?

I haven't received the new lens yet, but when I do I'll have to send it back, xconsoles is out of G2R

Are you getting this error with originals or backups?

Usually a faulty laser won't give you an unrecognized disc error. Typically its open tray or dirty disc errors that are laser related. I think this has more to do with what was written to the replacement pcb. Did you try your original pcb with that laser?

as aked before did you remove the anti static solder on the laser as if you didnt remove this it can cause problems, all new laser have this and it needs to be removed

Yes, but it would be a hassle putting that back in, I would have to solder the black, red, yellow, green and white wires back up to that and I dont like doing that right now.

Ok apparently some of you are missing some of my answers, some replies have 2 quotes in them, I done said that I didn't get the new lens yet, I am currently using the Lens that came with the Xbox (unmodified from the store) not a replacement (I havent got that in the mail yet), so there is no antistatic solder blob
