Replacement HDD query

Afternoon folks,

Can someone answer me this.

I have an old 20gb HDD sitting in my old pc. Now i am assuming that it can go into the modded xbox.

What do i need to look out for?

i know locking and unlocking can be a problem with some drives?
Also how to i know or set a drive to cable select?

Flipin eck!
Go to google and lookup the old HDD model number , then find jumper settings.

Also when you say "the modded xbox" do you mean the one with the 120G HDD in it?

Is this going to be extra or instead of?

sorry, no this is for another one i am undertaking.

previously i went to the shop and bought a drive and asked them about cable select and they said it was already set as such so did not investigate further. Apologies for my lack of p.c. knowledge.

so its just a case of putting the little widget in a specific position on the pins then! like you would to set it for slave master etc?

Exactly that!

Although i'm sure I set mine to master! Can't remember!

I have mine set to cable select. Most hardrives have that info on them already. If yours does not, then google will give give you the answers you seek.

hdd has been set to cable select.

One final thing before i try to stick it in, can someone point me to a table where it lists what HDD's have been tried before and whether they are lockable, btw i have tried google without any luck.

I have seen this table before but damned if i can find it again!!
