Replacing dead xbox hd with another xbox hd

Ok... i need to replace a dead xbox hd with another xbox hd from another system... it seems that it is possible to unlock the old hard disk but i can't seem to figure it out... if anyone has any experience with this, help would be greatly appreciated! BTW, the box is modded and has evox m8. it is a 1.0 xbox

i believe you can get a program called configmagic, ftp it over to your apps and it can unlock the drive for you
