Hello,
A friend of mine asked me if I could replace the DVD drive on his sons Xbox as it stopped reading discs, I said yeah sure. Bit of a mistake really, I have used Jungleflasher numerous times with success to flash Benq and Toshiba-Samsung drives, but had never stumbled across a Lite-On drive.
I naively assumed that I would just do the usual extract key, then reflash on new drive. The new drive I bought to replace the old one with is a Benq. The old Lite-On drive has reads firmware 0251 when I use jungleflasher, so I tried to use the half tray method which didnt work. I read up on the problem and discovered that the fact the dashboard had been updated to 13599 might be the reason the half tray didnt work anymore.
So to cut a long story short, is there a way I can extract the key from the Lite On drive to flash to the Benq without forking out for a probe or anything like that, as it is just a favour for a friend, I can solder so if there is any cheap way of doing it that would be brilliant, as I dont want to have to buy anything in to do it.
Many thanks,
Nick

Forgot to mention that his son has no interest in playing Xbox live, as he has another Xbox at his mothers house which he uses online, so no worries about getting banned or spoofing.
(Sorry I couldnt work out how to edit my own post)
