I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times, but I have searched the forum and couldn't get the answer, sorry if I didn't try hard enough.

I know spoofing doesn't work anymore so I know to replace a drive with the same type.

So I have a BENQ VAD6038 and replacing it with the same. What I was trying to find out is when it comes to DB updates, is key swapping ok to do in this case or is it better to swap the boards over?

(I'm better at flashing so hope that's ok?)

I always prefer flashing, way faster and no need to solder and screw. Just read the FW from the old drive and flash it to the new one, takes less than a minute! :)

Yeah, I prefer to flash too as I've got all the proper kit for it - just wasn't sure if flashing would cause a problem when updating the DB

Sorry for reply delay Martin.

When updating the DB I mean - if you update DB with spoofed drive or iXtreme FW drive it blocks your console does it not?

Thought this may happen with key transfer too?
