Ok, a friend of mine wants me to fix their liteon drive. It's a 74850C, and the xbox has already been updated to the newest dashboard too.

I have already ordered a replacement, and it's been almost a year since I have did anything with flashing a drive. I know I have to extract the dvd key, and that's all. Does anyone have a detailed guide?

(Also I own a Probe 3, and USB PRO)

Just search for the jungle flasher instructions and all the info is in it. You need to probe this drive to get the key but is really easy if you have the right tools.

If you download the latest version of jungle flasher the instructions are in the documents folder

You could also take the PCB off the dead drive and solder it onto the replacement dvd drive as long as the replacement is also a Liteon. Otherwise just check the jungleflasher pdf, it has detailed instructions. The gist of it is use Probe 3 to read original firmware, put the stock firmware (which is now included in the ixtreme firmware pack) into "target firmware" of jungleflasher. Spoof and then write to the new drive.

also once you put in TX replacement board, you can take the original board and try to kamikaze it, if it works, you have a spare board, if it doen't, no harm done, you already have the replacement one :)

way too much work for someone who has a probe v3 and an x360usb, why you would even suggest that is beyond me. work smarter, not harder
