I have an Xbox Slim that I installed a Coolrunner in. I was getting slow boot times so I decided to order the QSB for the rest wire and messed up a little. When I was disassembling the slim to install the QSB my reset wire was pulled from the motherboard and took a trace with it. After some trial and error I was able to get it booting again with the alternate coolrunner install points. Here are some photos of the end result.

Yeah that's the one! I was a little worried about the trace that was pulled up was going to cause problems, but it seems to be working. Does anyone knows if that trace is necessary or if its working because the alternate point. If I ever do decide to use the QSB for post times it would be great to know that I wouldn't have to worry about the red wire in the pictures.

yea pretty sure they put all the parts in the Xbox for a reason. No "extra parts"

Could I remove the wire and use a trace pen or would the wire be more effective. The xbox is not glitching anymore so im going to have to redo this.

Also, this is the most problems I have with soldering. What is the best way to solder to a point that has been damaged on a board?

Get someone else to do it?

Soldering is a skill which needs to be learned or taught. Either use this board to learn or get someone to teach you.

I am pretty good at soldering and have been doing it for awhile. I don't know anyone else who solders so everything is pretty much self taught or learned from youtube videos. If you know anyone who is familiar with this or a video that you know of I would greatly appreciate the info.

Did you power the XBOX with the Green and Blue touching like that?
No I corrected the problem before powering on the Xbox.

Also, if I am using the alternate CPU reset point I wouldn't have to repair the damaged trace right?

Also, Martin I could not find the video either. I am interested in checking those out! Thanks.

Does anyone have a video on how to repair a solder pad on the motherboard? Also is there a tutorial for removing the Coolrunner?

A video for doing what exactly?

This whole 'self-taught' thing only works if you fix the stuff yourself. Otherwise it's just you messing up and other bailing you out on a 1:1 basis.

I'll close the thread. If you need work done, please use the 'request a service or item' portion of the forums'.
