I accidentally enabled the VGA option in the X3 bios and now I get no picture whatsoever when i boot and i was wondering if there is anyway to reset all of the options in the X3 back to factory standards so that i can fix it. Thanks for any help.

Sure is, do the following:
Boot XBOX into config live.
After you think you are in config live, press 'A'.
Now press 'up' twice, then 'A'.
Now press 'left' once, then 'A'.

Now just let it run for a minute. It should reboot and work like normal now.

Let me know. :)

For some reason I don't even think it is booting into x3 config live anymore because if i boot it and hit up once and hit A (which should be "shut down") it doesn't do anything...i also can't connect to it through ftp anymore...so i don't know what the heck screen it's in.

I suggest flashing X3 bios to another 1mb bank to try to recover. If successful, you can then ftp flash your current flash bios. If I need to clarify more, let me know.

the problem is its not giving me a picture on my tv screen so i can't see what i'm doing...if i boot with the modchip disabled into the msdash then it works just fine so there's obviously something wrong with the settings in x3 but it's not letting me fix it because i don't think it's booting into x3 config live

Boot to the backup BIOS (power and eject) and reflash your main banks. The new flash will boot the BIOS with the defaults and your VGA problem should be solved.

I think you may have to reset X3 eeprom. There was a step where you have to install Evox bios and then ftp X3 eeprom erase and then run that program. You have to search for that in this forum. I would look for it for you but busy at the moment.

I finally fixed the problem!

I have an HDTV so since i could boot into msdash i went in and disabled 480p,720p, and 1080i. After doing this i rebooted the xbox and it finally let me into x3 config live, but i still had no picture for some reason. I then just did what brock.travis suggested the first time which is reset all of the x3 settings and everything works perfectly again.

Thank you everyone for all of your help! I can always count on these forums to help me solve a problem. Thanks!

I have an HDTV which doesn’t support 720p, and when I enable 720p, my screen goes blank. My TV only supports 480p and 1080i. I can assume that your TV did not support one of those formats so it gave you a blank screen. If you leave those disabled, it’s like not having an HDTV at all. You should check your TV manual to see what formats it supports and enable them accordingly.

No, it supports all of those formats. I'm not sure why it was giving me a blank screen but i'm sure it had something to do with enabling th VGA patch

Thanks brock for giving me the walkthrough for resetting the bios though cuz i wouldn't have been able to fix it without that...btw, you have a sweet xbox

FYI for those so panicked they don't remember... hold the white button till the screen flickers or goes black... least that's what my TV did.
