Resistor Value R7D6

I am trying to fix a bad install on a 1.6 xbox and xecuter3 that my friend performed. I managed to unsolder the LPC Rebuild and the PIN header and remove the X3 chip. However, he had accidently remove the resistor at R7D6...the resistor is missing and it's suppose to be right next to the pin header. So I bridged it with a wire, and I managed to get the xbox to boot into the screen to adjust the time setting. I reseted the xbox a few times to confirm that it was working and then turned it off. I tried to boot it up after powering it down for an hour and now it flashes orange and shutdown. I check all the connections, and the fan is turns on and the A/V cable is connected.

My question is, is there any way to fix it? and if someone would be so kind, can someone find the resistor value for me, so I can go get a replacement part (I have access to get one). If you look on the picture 5 on the Xecuter 3 1.6 tutorial, you can see the resistor that I am missing (R7D6).

Thanks

R7D6 is a 10k resistor. Easy enough to fix, just use the smallest you can find (for a few pennies), bend the legs in and solder it to the pads so it's flat on the board. It's not polarised so it won't matter which way around it is.

I just solder a 10K resistor where the missing resistor was and it still doesn't work. It displays the same orange light on the eject button. Any other ideas on how to fix this?

This worries me slightly :

As a rule, you should never bridge where a component should be. The resistor in question is only for between two pins on the LPC, so try booting with the chip removed. Does that show anything different?

Thanks for all the support.

I've removed the modchip and everything that was related with the modchip from the board. Currently I am trying to get the xbox to boot without the chip. I just replaced the missing resistor, my next plan is to install the chip and maybe the chip will boot, if the original ms bios doesn't boot.

Should I get an Xbox 4GB and upgrade the HDD?

I read in a few places where you could use a laptop hard drive as the hard drive for the new Xbox Slim's .... (just like we could do with the past generation of xbox 360's)...
I was wondering if anyone can confirm this? What do you recommend ? Should I get the 4GB and upgrade , or just get the 250 gb for 100 $ more (wow!) to begin with ...

(I think I can save some money and upgrade the HDD, what do you think?)
