Restoring Bank 1

Hey guys! I just did something that made bank 1 cause all sorts of errors and stuff. Isn't there a way to restore bank 1 with the backup mode? Is there a way to install a Bios without bank 1?
See I just hooked up my mod chip today, and I cant seem to get a dashboard working on it. I think I put a corrupt evo X file on there (that's gotta be causing all these problems) Is there any way to fix this?
Oh, just so I dont screw anything else up... would someone send me a good X3 bios? :) I dont want to sound like a n00b, but I really suck at software stuff.

My email- [email protected]

Just boot to the backup BIOS. Whatever bank select switch you have the X3 set to is the bank that you'll flash.

Download the latest X3 BIOS from Xbins, boot to backup BIOS, set switches to on on off off off and flash away..

Okay... It just happened to bank 2! Heres the deal, I cannot boot if the Bank 1 and Bank 2 switches are activated at all. I have been using xbins for a long time, but it just expired and now I cant use it. Please email me the latest files at [email protected] and please tell me how I will fix this problem. Oh another question, when beginning to flash, can I change the switches then? or do I have to reboot the bios with the switches already changed? Please send me the files. I really would appreciate it guys.

Follow exactly how I said to flash the chip and you'll be ok.

Download the latest X3 BIOS from Xbins
boot to backup BIOS
set switches to on on off off off
flash away

Please don't ask for BIOSes - they are freely available from #xbins. If your IRC client has expired, there are others apart from mIRC...

Remove any non-standard controllers from the Xbox. It may be something stopping the FlashBIOS from loading.

Try again with just an official MS Controller connected.

DID you not understand the word xbins? Yes, it is down now, but won't be forever.

I have been trying since last night... Has it been down that long? Cause all it does when I type in "#xbins" is open up that one window where you type "/msg xbins !list" then I hit enter and nothing happens. That one tab never pops up at the top... Am I doing something wrong? Is it because I haven't purchased mIRC? Or is this what happens when it is down?

ok, lets start by saying, youve paid your cash out on a beautiful (i know im sad) X3 chip, and you use a non executer bios. Put on a decent X3 bios that will give you increased funcionality and set to automatically load the dashboard rather than the config screen. You can pop evox on as the dashboard but i wouldnt bother with the bios as i dont think its that good.

If your having problems with getting evox on can i suggest that u use slayers evox which is an auto installer. Its awesome as its so easy and fast to use plus gives your loads of other homebrews.

Please make sure you are flashing to the right bios size with a real bios. You said you were flashing to bank 1, well you usually flash to bank 1-4 or 5-8 so that may be where your going wrong. As said earlier in the thread, there is certain combinations you need to use, if you have a black bank select then you want on on off off off, where as if you have the new LED lit bank selects, the flash protect is first so you would want off on on off off.

3029 is reliable but there are new ones like 3108 and the latest has JUST been released.

Use your eyes, they are not painted on!

may the force be with you

I'm having a similar problem. I don't have access to any of my banks. I can load the original xbox bios by holding down the power but once I tap the power button it frags on me (on and off). No matter what bank I use it just frags on and off. Now the only way it will boot the evoxdash is if I load the back-up 256k. I have an X3 chip and evoX installed with a version 1.6 xbox. Please help me!!!

Since you can boot to backup, it'll be a bad bios on your other banks... but why have you got your backup loaded with anything other than flashbios?

Use the backup bank and if that get's you to evox dash, you can FTP. I am assuming since backup is only 256K bank you haven't got X3CL. You'll need to FTP into your xbox and flash via HDD to the 1234 bank and put X3 bios correct version etc. (i.e. v16 plus filename)

Then load X3CL and put Flashbios back onto your Backup bank. and flash bank 5678 with another version of X3 bios just for safe keeping. (or something different if you prefer...)

Cheerio mate!
