Ok, so I did my demon about a week or two ago, been playing great, switching from retail to demon everyday, no problems... Then I turn it on today and nothing will work, except the beep noise it makes when pressing the power button or eject button. The fan doesnt spin and the tray doesnt open. Now this is all on demon nand. When I click the button on the back to turn the blue light off and switch to the xbox nand, it boots fine, nothing wrong...

I really don't feel install picture are necessary since it worked before then just stopped working randomly in the morning.

I did reflash the nand to the demon and still nothing.

BTW, I did not drop the xbox or make it fall on its side to make anything come loose.

Install pictures are always helpful. You could have a cold solder joint/ intermittent connection. Check all solder joints with a multimeter if you have one. The demon board is a solid and reliable piece of kit, it's usually user error thats the problem no offence.

Please post pics if you have time otherwise we have nothing to speculate.

Reading through your first post again and it sounds like you have a short somewhere. check over the board specifically where the demon is installed.

Ok so I opened it up, nothing was shorting anything, no cold solder joints, everything looked good. I plugged it in and kept playing with it pressing the power button making the beep noise, then I touched the usb board on the back of the console (slim) and it booted, but then I turned it off, did the same thing and didn't turn on. Kept doing that for a while, and it was sometimes turning on, sometimes not. Then I would switch the nand from demon to xbox back to demon and it would boot the first time, but not the second.. Weird.. I played with the ground wire, nothing, but then sometimes it would boot...

I have a feeling its either the flex wire going from the demon to the usb board or just the usb board itself. Idk, it's definitely, more than likely, not my soldering since it still boots retail and glitch somtimes.

It will boot with or without the USB board. If you suspect it being an issue then remove the ribbon cable from the Demon and boot.

It sounds to me like a cold solder joint though. If you don't want to post pics then at least touch them up. There's not a lot anyone can do for you beyond this point in my opinion without pics.

I remember hearing that people were having problems with the ribbon cables coming from the demon to the external usb board. my advice would be to disconnect the cable and then reconnect, making sure that it's seated correctly in the connector. Unfortunately i haven't had too much experience with the demon, i installed my first one last week into my trinity console.

Yeah that's what I think it is, because it seems like it has absolutely something to do with the USB board

Then disconnect it lol and try and boot your console. You will find out in a hurry if that is the problem.

Yep I think I fixed it. All I did was disconnect that cable, licked the ends (cleaned it with my tongue, yep...) and blew air on it and into the connector part. Booted everytime

Try it several times with it disconnected and see what happens. If it boots every time then you have a problem with the ribbon cable or board. If it does the same thing then there most likely an install issue.

Yeah its not uncommon for the ribbon cables to be a bit finiky. I ran into this same problem myself and racked my brain trying to figure out what was wrong eventually reseating the ribbon cable to the daughterboard fixed the issue.

So just disconnect the ribbon cable? doesn't matter if the demon is on xbox or demon?

I think it will default to the Demon side but it really doesn't matter at this point. Your just trying to get it to boot.

It boots everytime when on xbox nand... But I unplugged it and it didnt boot except once out of like 10 times.

What confuses me is how could it be my soldering if it still gitches but only occasionally...

Then I have to revert back to what I said earlier and point toward a cold solder joint. It happens to the best of us.

Nope I isolated the problem. It's the GND wire going from the USB board to the AV on the motherboard.

I unsoldered it and it booted everytime. Everytime. Soldered it back. Didn't boot. Tried again, didn't boot. Unsoldered it again, booted.

So now the question is... Why is that GND wire making the console do that...

Guess I'll go reflow all the points

Alright, just reflowed all my points. Didnt seem like I changed anything but so far it's been booting.
