I'm sure this question has been asked a million times, but I couldn't find a topic on it. If I flash the OEM Xbox bios to the mod chip I'm getting, will I be able to use Xbox Live? The bios on my Xbox is bad and I don't want to do the 29 wire mod to reflash the TSOP. If the OEM bios is running on the mod chip, wil Xbox Live be able to tell that the console is modded? Thanks.

Yes, you'll be able to use Xbox live as long as you boot to a retail BIOS. It doesn't matter if it's on the TSOP or a chip, as long as it's unmodified you'll be ok.

I've been searching high and low for the OEM bios and can't seem to find it. Anyone know where it can be downloaded from? It's a v1.4 with my brand new X3 installed. :)

Go to Xbins and under BIOS, you'll see a section for original. Check the table below to download the correct retail version for your Xbox.

Your 1.4 will either work with the 5101 or 5713 BIOS - download both and try each in turn. You may find only one will work...

Xbox Revision
Kernel Version

1.0
3944,4034,4036,4627

1.1
4817,4972

1.2–1.5
5101,5713

1.6
5838
