Yes I am a complete noob when its come to rgh and jtag and soldering but I am good with computers and have plenty of time on my hands.
Do I need any extra cables or little bits and pieces?

Not to stop you or anyone else from trying but if you have none of the products or any previous skills you would save yourself a bunch of money and time by simply paying someone locally to you to do it. All of the components will cost you more than the labour from someone else. For us locally prices are $75 cdn for full install/read/write

i second that. buying all the stuff for one instal is not the most economic way to go about it. + you said you don't have previous soldering skills. I advice you to take apart your console and check the points that you need to solder to. they look 10x bigger in the pictures than they really are.

Thanks for your help guys I am just going to watch the soldering videos to learn how to do it and I have quite a few old red ringers I can practice on.
If I can rgh this phat without any problems I will then do my slim so it be cheaper for me this way and give me something to do.
Also it works out about £50 for the TX parts including postage and to pay someone else to do it will cost me £60

So do I need a decent soldering iron like the one axee44 has or will this cheap one do the job?

Also what solder is needed?

Does it matter what flux I use?

Thanks guys :)

I recommend:

Rosin Soldering Flux paste from radioshack (or maplin if your in the UK).

.032 diameter 60/40 solder
desoldering bulb
desoldering braid

If you mess up, the pump can pick up excess solder and the braid can pick up anything the bulb missed.

I first started soldering with the $10 soldering iron at radio-shack. I would recommend that one for a beginner. Its 15w and its ideal for the job you will be doing. Flux is a MUST so esp. for the small points you will be soldering to for RGH. Glad to see your taking this challenge on yourself.

Now it's a perfect time to watch this and this.
And before you stick soldering iron into your xbox make sure you practice on old pcbs. Do not rush it, make sure you know what you are doing.

Just watched one video and seemed really helpful but can't get the download for the other ones to go faster than 8kbs :( so might be a while before I get to watch them.
