Hello,

I'm having a bit of a problem and any help is appreciated.

My console is always connected using the AV cable, on the cable itself there is a switch. It can be moved to TV or HDTV. When it's in HDTV mode it will freeze on dash, sometimes within few seconds upto few mins, but it will freeze, usually within first minute.

The weird thing is, when the switch is on TV (480p SD), then it won't freeze. I've tried several times and I'm getting same results.

I've tried search function and stickies, can't seem to find a solution.

Thanks

The AV cable has 6 connectors in total... Yellow, Red, White, Red-purple ish, blue, green.
5 of those are plugged in, the exception being Yellow.

I've also tried just component cables... blue, green and purple but it still freezes.

@KILLorBE, My settings on the 360 are 1080p, I've always used this.
The reason your only getting 1080i is because your TV does not support 1080p.

No, I don't have one.
Before the rgh I used the same cable and there was no freezing in the past.

Will be using hdmi for the moment, but a solution would be preferred as all hdmi connectors on the tv are in use, currently using my dvd drives hdmi.

You're probably right, never bothered to read the manual if the component input is limited to 1080i.

I bought a cheap 3 port HDMI Switch for ~$10, switches automatically to the right port when you turn on a device, and it came with a remote too, works great.

If you bought a TV that was HD ready, it would mean 720p, whereas those advertised as full HD are 1080p. Reason I know is because I once took over my 360 to a cousin who had a HD Ready TV (720p) and max output was 1080i.

Might also look into switches.

It's a full HD tv for sure, just checked the manual and the component input is limited to 1080i.

I'm out of ideas, and I can't do any testing because of the component input.

Thread can be closed now:)

The 360 started freezing on hdmi too, I gave it to synxx who had a look at it for me and he fixed the problem by changing one of the wire routes.
The fix was to tape one of the wires to the xclamps, this fixed the freezing and HDTV works fine now.
