Which should I install first and do they come with instructions? I have a 25w soldering iron, will this work to solder these chips to the board? I have a Xbox 360 Slim Trinity if that helps

Thanks

Could you give me any info, if my soldering iron will work? I have a 25w one I think. Also, how hard are the chips to install, on a scale 1-100?

i know you probably think thier is a simple yes or no to your question, but tbh, there isnt.with the right skill, you can use a hot fireplace poker and some solder to solder one in very easily, lol.if your not well versed in soldering its deffff not the kind of install you want to learn doing on a working console, thats fact,i repair botched installs off here ona daily basis, and i almost imagine these guys walkin the walk of shame out of the frat house when thier box leaves here to go back to em,lol.pro install isnt much, specially if you have the parts, and in some cases, they offset the price you have to pay the pro,in parts they already have that you dont need but once,so you dont have to buy them.

P>S> dont do the walk bro........LOL :p

P<S<S< yes a 25 watt irons fine :)

the most important part here is doing as martin said.and give serious thought to what that card says.

Before u do any of this, remember to write something to the demon, then read it back and make sure it compares properly to the original file. It can be any 16MB file, including a TXT file.

Install the demon first, then make sure you can use it to dump the stock nand. then write the stock nand to the demon, and make sure the console boots both nands. Then write the ECC to the demon(Created with J-runner, and stock nand dump). Install CoolRunner. Boot Xell(Included in ECC), from Demon nand. Retrieve CPU_Key. Create Freeboot image with CPU_Key and stock nand. Write freeboot image to demon. It is a pretty simple process if you can solder and work a standard PC running Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1

Re: RGH Cool Runner Rev C & Demon Dual Nand

I went to the website and couldnt find the coolrunner or the demon??

Did you create an account and log in, you cannot see these items as a guest to the website

How would I partition the hard drive to use for both sides of the console ( retail and the rgh side??
Best to use an internal stock drive for xbl and an external usb drive for rgh

#4 READ & SEARCH FIRST
The forum is an extensive archive of questions and answers. We also have a very detailed guides & tutorials section that answer pretty much every question you could possible have. We find it very rude when members post questions that have been answered a hundred times before. It shows that they have not searched for the answer and are either lazy and want to be spoon fed, or that they have complete disregard for the very rules that you are reading right now.

If you can't find the answer then that's fine, simply state that you have already looked when making your post. We are here to help people, not only to give advice but to educate them on helping themselves.

You get one warning of this - DemoN installs are not for noobs/first-timers. If you don't have the kit to solder, chances are you can't solder well enough.

Don't use the forum as a chatroom - if you need to ask questions on a line-by-line basis, you've not done any/enough reading.

Soldering for hobby practice and soldering your xbox 360 are 2 different things. Soldering irons you can buy at the dollar store for less than $10 are not going to help you here.

You will need a professional grade soldering iron to be able to succeed in any tutorials you follow here, hobby level stuff will likely result in failure and possibly damage caused by you.

This forum is here to support TX products, its not here to teach you how to use a soldering iron, you should already know that before buying TX products, even still, there are plenty of people here willing to advise you, even though they're not required to by any means.

I can see your interested in doing things right, yes, you will need flux and some decent solder for any projects with the 360, I'm planning on writing a tutorial on some things and simplifying them here, but with many different motherboards and different soldering points its hard to get a fool proof tutorial written to cover all.

As Martin said, do not attempt a Demon install, I know Martin didn't tell you not to, but simply warned you its not for noobs, but I'm telling you, you should practice on something less valuable before you try on your 360.

Good Luck and God Bless, I hope you succeed in your desire.

I created an account but cannot still see the cool runner or the demon.. I have my mine set on doing this, many of people have told me that it's not easy but I was chatting with this guy yesterday, and he said my soldering iron is fine as long as I have solder and flux, and that since I have soldered before I should be good.

You're Right, as long as you use flux and know the basics with soldering, you should be fine.

I personally have a professional soldering station, its a Aoyue 968+, basically a reflow station with a soldering iron attached which allows me to set the temperature of my solder iron, knowing lead free solder melts at 217c and leaded melts at about 188 or so, I actually have my soldering iron set at about 400 and use it at that temp for my RGH and other precision soldering needs.

I can guess I will get some replies saying I'm an idiot for setting my soldering iron that high, but to those who want to reply and say that, let me just reply to you in advanced, YES, 400 is WAY too HIGH, but if your an experienced solderer like I am you can actually use temps like these and be okay, I know the pads limits and how much heat a pad can handle, I'd rather touch my 400 degree soldering iron on a pad for a split second and get the goal, than get a low temp one plus many attempts and touch it too many times and mess it up, just the way I do things.

Lets get to the advice I'm telling you...

If you have a hobby grade soldering iron, maybe something you paid $10 for, I'd be very careful with your xbox, all the points you will be soldering you may have lead free solder, or no solder, you should really learn how too apply solder to pads before attempting this if you do not know how.
