RGH Dashboard Version Clarity

Hello,

I have been doing alot of reading of various guides here and elsewhere on how to RGH and seen alot of conflicting information regarding which official dashboard version to go to before starting the modding process off.

Basically states 14686 makes phats un RGH due to splitting CB into two stages so suggests no higher than 13604.

The picture guide was created in August 2011 so I guess it suggests 13599

FiB3R's guide very clearly states to use 14699

So my question is someone who really knows there stuff give me a final answer, what dash to start off with?

Is there any benefit to be running 14699 as wiki I read seems to show only cosmetic, advertising and live services changes?

The CB change was just rumors and it didn't happen. Doesn't matter what dash you on, you can RGH from any dash but it would be advisable to use the latest dash 14699.

i just done a couple of jaspers on the 14699 dash.

i did my C/R on dash 13604 the updated to 14699 by usb stick, no issues, works a charm

I did mine on 13604 and used Multibuilder V0.7 to make my freeBOOT image. It updates it to 14699 dash but to get avatars working, you need to use the official update after installing your new kernel.

It makes no difference whatsoever.

I did two slims still at 9199. Just apply the same dashboard update afterwards for Avatar stuff and you'll be fine.

Read the log of the build and you'll see what files it actually takes from the dump. Basically SMC (which it patches), kv, smc-config and fcrt.bin if it's there. That's about it.

Great thanks very much for the info and the clarity.
I am sure this well be second nature after I get into it but at moment I'm still at the tipitoeing along each stage until I fully understand everything.

Got a couple of exRROD banned consoles coming in next week or so to have a play with before I start on my more reliable consoles.
