  • Console Type:corona 4 gb
  • Programmer Used: qsb sd r/w
  • NAND Size: 4GB
  • Dashboard version:2.0.16767
  • Was the console working before you started: Y
  • Do you get a green debug light appear on the CR4 XL chip every 4-5 seconds: Y
  • How long is the light on for each time 5 seconds or so.

hey guys I recently rgh'ed a 4gb corona and after turning on and off the console to check if there is any problems. It will boot fine a couple times then throw out some flashing red lights, the fan speeds up and it shuts off. When it boots again if it doesnt throw any rings and it will say the xbox shutoff automatically and not to block any vents or anything. If I flash the retail nand back I can turn it on and off 20 times and never have an issue which leads me to believe its probably something with the image I wrote or soldering. I have checked my soldering and everything looks good. I also made a new hacked image and wrote that a couple times and still the same issue until I flash the retail back. So take a look guys and tell me what you think. Also I re-applied new heatsink when I initially saw the red rings and after that it still happens randomly. I booted xex menu when it booted fine and had it there checking temps for over an hour and it never got past 43 degrees for the cpu and about 40 or 42 degrees for the gpu.

I believe I did because I tried making a glitched image a few times but the first couple times I manually selected the "magic files" 4gb ecc and manually set up the smc.bin per jsingers instructions.I did the exact same thing to another 4gb xbox two days before and that one went off without a hitch.

You dont need to do any Image changes as far as magic goes anymore thats old stuff-Try just checking of the CR-4 box and let jrunner build the Image!! If your prompted SMC bin found by jrunner just click yes to erase ..see if that helps
Do you have file checks enabled in Jrunner

Cool I will try that without manually selecting the ecc and smc and only click the cr4 box....I dont have file checks enabled unless it is by default so in about an hour when I can sneek away from the kids im gunna tear it apart n hook up the sd writer again.

Yes you do have files checks set correctly I see it now..Why are mentioning ECC the Ecc file is just to get exell.. it s used only one time your past that now
Please let us know if your new image helps I have had speeding fans and other strange stuff when my image was not built correctly but never the overheating Error ..
If your console boots to RGH now you can use simple nand flasher to install your knew image No sound card reader needed/// just USB stick
Also Jrunner is working on the newer RGH Image for me 1.7150 no problems

its been along two days:pI mentioned the ecc because I manually selected it when I first booted xell and got my cpu key, I flashed it back to the retail nand and turned it on and off many times to test if it gave any red rings and it had no problems and then the kids started to get nosey (im secretly trying to mod this for my son for christmas hence why I cant just whip it out and test it anytime of the day but I'm going to take it apart in about 20 minutes and try to get it rolling because I'll have the rest of the night to try and get this figured out. I'm having trouble trying to update the avatar data on the current dash...do you think updating to a newer one might allow me to install the update? I started a thread about that problem too so maybe check it out if you have time. Does the new dash have dashlaunch udated for it?

Yes it works for me now You dont need to tear the console apart to hook up sound card Use simple nand flasher wile your xbox is running really simple !!
I never use Jrunner to update the Avatars just never learned I use FTP Xebuild and the last three months it has bin Hit and miss with the dash updates
You can use the complete retail update on USB with 2 added files set in the root of the directory the files are launch INI and Xenon Elf and as long as your USB update has not exceeded your dash update
you just launch XEX menu and the console will update the avatars, Maybe for now you should just stick with 767 dash until your RED ring is gone Any further updates can be done without tearing apart your console

When I have a phat motherboard out of it's shell (metal case) and boot it, if I touch the CPU heat sink it gives me a RROD 0002 not sure if you have this console in it's shell (metal case) , also if you post the secondary code it might help

im going to check out the error codes when I put it all back together. the xbox itself tells me it shutdown due to overheating but when i boot the corona right after that it shows the temp at 41 degrees or so. I figured out my avatar update issue. Apparently not having the dvd drive hooked up makes all the difference:) I had to tear the xbox apart because i wrote the retail nand back before the little ones saw what I was doing to their xbox thats why I said I had to use the sd but I just updated the dash to 17150 so we will see how she acts and Ill post my jrunner real quick

I had similar problem once. all I had to do, is use another dashboard version. You made 17150 freeboot image. Is that supported with dashlaunch yet? Because if not, you won't be able to use any xexmenu, fsd, ...

Dashlaunch 3.14 was released a few days ago, and it supports the latest 2 dashes. I believe it is included in j-runner now.

We can just assume you updated retail with Jrunner .If not be careful because of LDV change
How is your Blue Cpu_rst connection under the board I dont see any picture yet
So the console gets the error when it first Glitchs So no picture on the TV no freezing just Instant Red lights sometimes
Do you see the ROL board attempting to sinc prior to the red lights

Yah I wrote the updated dash with j-runner but still had red rings so I flashed the retail back and had problems...it wouldn't boot retail or the glitches so I did some reading on Martin c's dlc post and changed the ldv by one with evils made my retail with the ldv changed and it boots retail fine again...ill post pics of the cup reset wire in a little bit im gunna try to glitch the box again as the retail works fine and its on the newer dash. Ill check with the rol but I think it just showsb green for about 15 to 20 seconds then shows flashing red ring...if I try to get an error code via sync button and eject bottom nothing happens.....it just flashes red for about 2 seconds thenfan speeds up and it turns off

- - - Updated - - -

And no picture on my tv and no freezing just won't boot hacked image

still the same issue...sometimes xell boots fine and sometimes it red rings..... and same with the glitched image. I'm uploading a video to you tube so you guys can see what exactly its doing. And I cant get a secondary error code when i hold the sync button and hit the eject button. Like I said before retail nand works flawlessly anytimeI write it back to the console.Tried booting it over 20 times and it never shows red rings or anything.

I don't really get the logic here. Can someone explain to me how and why a image works a few times, then doesn't work one or a few times and then start working again?

Is there some kind of AI in the new xebuild images that I don't know of? Or new nand chips that have a floating state?

I would definitely say this is a hardware issue, but I can't say what it's caused by.

I am really speechless,it acts so weird. Heres my latest j-runner log and the video is still uploading to youtube. It red ringed two boots in a row then i tbooted the hacked imaged and she was on for about 20 minutes.I went through xex menu and looked at temps. All normal installed fsd rev775 and it boots and setup the new dashlaunch 3.14 . Played a game then shut it down via the remote controller and wanted to see if any red rings.Sure enough it red ringed once then after that booted right into fsd and its been there for 20 minutes or so still working perfectly fine? And also the 4gb I did before this was with an older version of j-runner and after I modded that one the next day it updated right before I started on this one. Do you guys think maybe it could be the newer j-runner?
