If you do decide to try the software then don't do anything with it now. Maybe it has the ability to see and recover data from unallocated partitions.

If you can find a way to recover the partition info, I would bet the data is still on the drive, and intact. I used to do this with my HDDs I kept sensitive information on. you hex edit the partition table and set the data to 0. it will show up exactly as your drive is, then the data isnt recovered using usual methods, as the computer asks you to format the drive right away. then if you put the write information back u can see every thing. so recovery is possible. I would bet running a magnetic wand over the platters would recover 90% of the data also, if not all of it. the only real way to destroy the data is to overwrite it like 20 or 30 times, and even then with the right equipment it may still be able to recover the data.

You seem to know a good bit of info on the subject. Any particular method you would recommend?

I am a computer tech, so yes i do know a bit on the subject of how data is stored on a hard drive. now a solid state/flash drive works differently. try checking this out. http://www.partition-recovery.com/ havnt tried it, but it may bring back your partition.

I actually ran that scan yesterday and the SuperScan results show No Name(2): [Very Bad]

Not sure what exactly any of it means or what to do, but here is a screenshot of the results w/ the recovery "popped-up" on the screen.

Does this mean thier is hope?

Personally I would try copying the info to a new drive with the option that is there for that. as for the file names and stuff, that all looks corrupted, so either the program is not recreating the partition table correctly, or you are somewhere that doesnt use english for the default language. which I am doubting, as your english seems fine. or the file names could be stored in the corrupt file table. It has been a really long time since I have had to do anything like this.

I'll give that method a go! Any estimate of an idea how long that method would take? Reason I ask, is I need the PC to take to work with me in around 6 hours, so was thinking I may be better of waiting 'til in the a.m. to begin the transfer.

And you are correct, English is my default language on the drive. As well as my native tongue, haha.

Depending on the amount of data, and bus speed, i would say it could take anywhere from a couple of hours to 1+ weeks.

So I copied it over to a new drive, and when I connect that drive to my computer (am away from my RGH @ the moment) it still asks to format! If I look at it under disk management this is what I see:

And just an update --- just got home and RGH does not recognize the "new" drive either :(

Computer recognizes it -- assigns a drive letter to it, but says I have to format it before I can use it.
