RGH Question

I've read through many posts and still I'm not sure but what exactly are all of the benefits of RGH? I assume one of them is the ability to install and play your game backups from the HDD. Is that correct?

What else will it allow from a practical standpoint? I've read so many times about it allowing you to run "unsigned code" but that is pretty meaningless to me.

Somebody help a Noob out and please don't tell me to spend hours sifting through hundreds of post to find the answers. I just don't have that kind of time.

You can play games from a hard drive and you can also run applications and emulators (this is your "unsigned code" (i.e. built using XDK or the LibXenon SDK)).

The Reset Glitch doesn't care about the dashboard version (JTAG can only be done on dashboards 7371 and below) but certain consoles (Non-HDMI Xenons for instance and those with CB_B (2nd stage CBs)) cannot be exploited with the reset glitch at present.

Jtag's is prettymuch a software hack and rgh is more a hardware hack (i believe)
with a jtags you have to protect your efuses, and with rgh they can be updated
The process of jtagging is much more simple and uses some wires and diodes, while with rgh it has to have a glitch chip and you need precise soldering.
Jtags can only be done on xboxes running 7371 dash or lower. While RGH can be used on any dash on any xbox except xenons(first xbox) and corona (latest slim)

That is basically a second stage CB, consoles with these versions cannot be glitched (at least not right now) - for instance, Jasper CB 6752 and Falcon CB 5772 are 2nd stage (CB_A and CB_B).

Ok but I'm still a little confused. What does CB stand for? Sorry for my lack of knowledge . I'm just trying to get up to speed so I can better understand the various posts I'm reading.

I wouldn't worry yourself too much, which console do you have (motherboard type) and what is the manufacturer date?

I really don't know which MB I have but it's an older one. The console is a Halo 3 edition xbox. At this point I'm not convinced I'll be doing the RGH or Jtag. I just want to better understand the process and maybe down the road I'll give it a try. Currently I have 2 xboxes. One stock for online and one that I currently have an xkey installed.

I've an extensive background in electronics and have chipped many a console in my time. The RGH with a TX Coolrunner installed sounds like a fun project to me. I just have to find the time!

If you have modified consoles in the past and can use a soldering iron, the reset glitch ought to be a doddle for you .

That's very helpful. Thanks. As far a soldering goes, I've been soldering for 35 years...lol Actually had military training that included a 2 week class on soldering to NASA specifications. Definitely a "doodle" for me.

My Halo Console has a Zephyr MB according to the chart you supplied so looks like I'm good to go. As I said, I've just got to fine the time. Of course that means I would have to toss out my xkey since it's currently installed.

To be honest, I would keep your xk3y installed (although I don't support the device :tongue.

Zephyr consoles are a pain in the ass to glitch and sometimes they don't glitch at all, I am not saying don't try it though..... because god loves a trier .

Ok...I just checked out my stock xbox and it has a Xenon MB. Is that a better choice? If so I can always purchase another xbox to have as my "stock" xbox for online.

You cannot glitch Xenon consoles and they cannot be JTAGged if they have a dashboard version higher than 7371.

LOL...Well then I guess when I'm ready to do this, I'll buy another console to do the mod on. In your opinion, which console is best suited for the RGH? I'll go out and get it just to have it available when I'm ready to go forward with it.

Check very carefully that your new console was manufactured before August 2011, after that date they have the new motherboard which isn't glitchable!
