I have a trinity slim and am gonna buy a NAND x and cooolrunner. Will this be enough hardware. Also do u have to take off the heatsink to rgh? Do I need to use shielded wires? Should I use a qsb? How hard is it to connect a 1 tb hard drive to it after I rgh?

1.you also need a Nand-x to coolrunner jtag cable to program the coolrunner and most importent is some good soldering experience if you're new at soldering the i recommended you to practice on some damaged pcb !
2.no need to take of the heatsink
3.if you have trouble with boot times the you need shielded wires
4.yes QSB(quick solder board) it's so easy to install any and recommended
5.you can connect a 1tb via USB or any 2.5' Sata HDD to your RGH'ed xbox !

I want to run backups off the hdd but if it connects with USB will it have enough through put to do it
Use FSD !
extract your iso's and put them on your usb device and run them through FSD !

Any xbox 360 game can be playable from your USB HDD .
did you mean -Xbox 360 Official HDD or any other 2.5' HDD ?
same speed on both USB & HDD , usb just a little bit slower then Sata HDD .
Official hdd and what are you talking about USB is like 450 mb or something like that and sata is either 3 or 6 gb
Because of the reduced through put with USB will this cause the game to lag like a underpowered pc would?

It shouldn't matter, you can either put a 2.5" HDD into an XBOX 360 HDD caddy or connect an external HDD using USB.

if like internal sata HDD ,then go and buy it Xbox can read up to 2.5 TB !
or if like USB HDD then go and buy a usb hdd Xbox can read up to 2.5 TB !
both reading speed will be same . i don't think you can see any big difference in loading times !
Alright actually I just remembered that Xbox slim hd port is sata unlike the phat xboxes which have custom port so I am just gonna buy a 3.5 inch hdd and connect with sata . Thanks guys

Western digital sells a 1tb 2.5 hard drive , I get them off eBay for $100 and they work great, I've sold over 15 of them in rgh/jtag units to customers, the only downside of them is they are 12.5mm thick so phat hard drives need a tiny bit of modding to fit them in, but the slim caddy fits it flawless without the top piece
Just search "1tb wd 2.5" on eBay (without quotes obviously)and you'll find it
