Yea but the prices are up I remember my 500 gb 3.5 drive was 45 bucks a year ago before all this flooding of the factories happened. I bet a 3.5 inch 1tb would be a lot cheaper than a 2.5 inch a year ago. But also if I connect my 3.5 inch with USB will it need to be formatted because i would like to use it as a Xbox drive and a secondary drive for my pc if that's possible .

Get contx plugin for FSD and play games over LAN !

loading time would be longer but game will run as normal and fine !

this is the most cheapest way for you !

Alright actually I just remembered that Xbox slim hd port is sata unlike the phat xboxes which have custom port so I am just gonna buy a 3.5 inch hdd and connect with sata . Thanks guys
I think the 3.5" HDD requires more power than you can get from the internal sata port. So you'll need to source some power to the 3.5" drive.

Getting a 2.5" drive is the simplest of options, or a 3.5" USB drive.

I looked at some of western digitals 2.5 inch and saw that there is something called drive parking that stops the drive head from spinning while not in use and freezes the game when trying to save because the drive needs to spin back up. Anyone have that happen to them?

Are you talking internal or external? Because with my 1tb internal 2.5's I've left games paused for hours and never had problems like that, but on my 3tb 3.5 external one it does what your referring to, I've never tested a external 2.5 tho

i just read something the other day about this, but i dismissed it because it did not apply to me. if i remember right, there is a switch in dashlaunch for this, or there is a patch available that keeps the usb drive from spinning down. i searched around but i cannot find what i had read. maybe someone here knows more about it.

Can anyone post a link to a good tutorial for rgh that uses a slim, NAND x and cool runner. Also what is all the extra stuff the NAND x comes with. It looks like a bunch of random useless qsbs

hdd keepalive fsd search for proper script on google and add to launch.ini
He's exactly right. Theres a feature in dashlaunch called "keepalive". Which writes acouple mb files everyso offten so your drive stays spinning.

Ok so I was thinking of following this.
http://j-runner.net/JRunner/J-Runner_Tutorial.pdf
If this tutorial is good then the only thing I am unsure of is when to solder or connect the NAND x and cool runner . Do I just solder in the cool runner and slim qsb and then connect the NAND x? Do
I disconcert the NAND x whenever turning on the console?

Once you solder the QSB in place, you can solder your CoolRunner wiring in place and you will still be able to read the NAND fine (using the QSB cable that came with your NAND-X); however, I suggest you program your CoolRunner before installing it.

You must disconnect the NAND-X before powering the console on or you run the risk of damaging the NAND-X and/or your console.
