rgh slim 14699 and kinect update

Hi,

I have this rgh'ed slim and when i connect kinect it asks for the update. as much as i read i should just download and update from MS site through usb stick. but is that safe?
i don't have fsd or dashlaunch and would prefer not having to instal them

to update the dashboard you would need to create a new update via multibuilder or jrunner otherwise just download the 14699 update and put that on a memory stick to update the current dash with the kinect update. Be careful not to download the 14719 update as this would give you a problem.

When ever ive had to update for the avatars, and i presume connect dash 14699, ive downloaded the offical one from M$ rename it to $$ystemupdate, tranfer it onto a usb stick (formatted to fat32) stick it in the xbox then let it boot and let it do its thing.

As long as the update is the same version as your dash, it will update your avatars and kinect.
If dashlaunch is block updates, you'll need to rename your update folder to $$ystemupdate.

it's strange. i rebooted xboxo with a HDD inside it and it all works nice and clean now 0.o i thought every one MUST have an update. apperantly i dodged it somehow. it is a possiblity that the previous owner had it on his hdd already.

well, thatnks anyway, i'll know about this if i have a need for it in the future (and i probably will have a need)
feeling pretty stupid now....

might as well lock/delete.

Just want to make something clear.
So it has to be named $systemupdate, the flash drive has to be otherwise empty and the has to be hdd on? Im trying to update another rgh i got and it doesnt see the update. Maby coz there were other files on the usb or maby i got a wrong file (i have 14 mb update). Maby some one can give me a proper update link? Would be appreciated

$$ystemupdate an a fat32 USB stick
And any storage device that's formatted for the Xbox 360 and must have at least 190mb free space
