Just got a working RGH slim and it worked fine up until today. I went out a bought a brand new 1tb hard drive and put it in a case I had ordered before. It's not an official MS case but it works enough. Well the hard drive doesn't work and when it does it's at random. I thought it might be the hard drive so I took it back and got a replacement but it still gives me the E68 error. The console works fine without the HDD attached and the hard drive works on my pc without a problem. Anybody have any idea of what it could be?

I didn't try it before but I just tried it now. Formatted to fat32, put in the hdd case and turned the xbox on. Red dot and E68. When I hook the hard drive up to a external case and plug it into the xbox via usb it works fine. Could it be a loose sata cable inside? I've tried two different hard drives, this is driving me crazy.

It is a Western Digital. The first one I tried was too. I'm gonna open up the 360 tomorrow and check the cable connections. Hopefully it's something simple like that.

Have u tried the HDD in the xbox without the case. U don't really need the case. It wud eliminate that the case is or isn't the fault.

Tried the hard drive with out the enclosure, didn't work. Took the 360 apart, everything was plugged in correctly. I think I'm going to get a Sata to Esata cable and enclosure from Tiger.com and see if powering the hard drive externally will work.
