RGH RGH successful, now a problem with the power

Hi,

So after a failed attempt on a Falcon (dead), my friend decided to do his slim instead with a wires only install as he doesn't think much of the QSBs. While the majority will argue that the QSBs are better, we got successful dumps first time this way.

We then successfully did everything and I had got to the point where I was working out how to get Freestyle dash correctly installed. The drive for this Slim hadn't been flashed, so we got xexmenu on the console via USB. Unfortunately, while using xexmenu the console suddenly froze and the (wired) controller lost the light on the guide button. The fan also went mad, spinning at what I presume is 100% as it was loud.

Now the console won't power on. When the power supply is attached, the red light on the Coolrunner comes on and the faceplate is making it's beeps when you touch the power and eject buttons- but nothing else happens. Does anyone know what could be wrong here?

maybe you just didnt put enuff solder on the stby_clk point.resolder that.and see if it turns on.

post a pic of your install.

yeah one of those should do the job.

My friend (he does the soldering) checked that point after your initial suggestion and he's wondering if maybe it heated up and bridged. He has indeed re-soldered it and the console has powered on again.

THANK YOU! :D

By the way, you don't need to flash the driver to play Xexmenu by DVD. :)
We were working with a motherboard that had been bought from ebay and while it came with a drive key, we hadn't got as far as doing anything about that. As it stands, the console won't read discs but that's obviously not a problem now!

Thanks for all advice in this thread, it can now be marked as 'solved', if that's how you like to do things here. I have one other query, but I'm not sure if I should post a new thread elsewhere for it.

The query is regarding Family Settings. This motherboard has Family Settings in place, including a code and a security question- neither of which we know, obviously. Is there anything we can do to circumnavigate this? My main goal here is to block all Live sign-ins and this seems like the most efficient method of doing it. I know I need to add the 'livestrong=true' to the launch.ini to enable cover downloads, but does this mean the console will try to sign into XBox Live too?
