So my system got the one ring e74 yesterday and wanted to know since it's RGH would it be bad to do the overheat to 2 red lights temp fix, would I ruin the solder on the added chip (there is a added chip right, had it RGH'ed from a member here don't know specifics of what goes on)

Mostly I hate sending my system out to get stuff done to it and wouldn't mind having to do this every so often.

Today the system turned right on and had a perfect picture when last night I had to turn it on without the av plugged in and then it would work but with red lines and a blinking picture. I've tried other hdmi cables and the composite and component all the same result.

Where to start. This is not a true fix, more of a band aid over the underlying problem. Firstly overheating the console with the power on will only raise the temperature to around 100c before the automatic shutdown kicks in. The melting point of the lead free solder is 218c so u'r not even close to reflowing the GPU on the board. So even if u'r 'chip' were soldered directly on top it would nt be at risk of melting the solder. Not to mention as said E74 is a dying GPU and would need replacing altogether. U've probably got an Xbox manufactured in 2007 (zephyr) which is not worth the time. Either get a falcon/ jasper model and swap the mod chip parts u'rself or get a pro to do this for u. I'm sure someone on here will give h a competitive price.
