Hey guys you might have seen my other thread on my Xbox not booting to Xell and getting a black screen, well i fixed that. So i moved onto my Friends Phat Xbox which is also a Falcon.

Everything was working fine i booted to Xell then got my CPU Key, did everything after i finished writing the nand the Xbox turned on and Glitched in like 5 seconds, i put it to Dash 14699 btw. so yea it worked so i un soldered the Nand-X wires, then i put the Xbox back together and when i turned it on it started making a weird noise where the fans are, so i turned it off and took it apart to where it was just the MOBO in the Metal cage.

The Xbox wont glitch now just a solid red light And the Xbox makes noises as if its trying to glitch, but the GREEN light isn't blinking. And when i put the top cover on the xbox (the plastic bit that requires the 6 screws, the really weird noise starts coming back.

So anyways the the Xbox was glitching now it isn't, no green light at all. Makes a weird ass noise when i put the top plastic cover of the Xbox on.

Any help is useful thanks. :D

*PICS ADDED*
Can upload pic of wire layout if needed.

if you have no blinking green light on coolrunner i would reflash the stock nand and try to boot stock and see if you get RROD

as for weird noise is it something interfering with the fan blades?

Il try reflashing the nand tomorrow as i unsoldered the Nand-X wires, and the weird noise i cant tell because it only makes the noise when i have the top part of the case on, and the Xbox/Or CoolRunner sounds like its reving like when u Rev a car engine, except very quietly its really hard to describe what the hell is going on here sorry

maybe fans are worn out (the berings) try some WD40 on the shaft that goes into the fans and dont spray it on anything electrical, if the xbox isn't that old then maybe it could be some Caps are failing they do make weird noises when they are gonna blow. Hope some of this will help you out

Well the loud noise only occurs when i put the top part of the Xbox on so don't think its that thanks though.

Sounds like the metal cage is slightly pinching down on the fans and when securing the top it pulls it even further. Try slightly bending up the metal that holds the fan in place

Hope you find out what is causing noise. For a test disconnect the fans and put the top part of the case on and see if it makes the noise (do it quickly so you don't heat up the Xbox to much a minute is ok)

I've had one that was making a funny pulsing noise like the disc was catching but after investigation it seemed the fans where pulsing up and down real fast. I did a full resolder to fix but seemed to me that the green pll-bypass had been bared back too much and was touching another component. I would try re-soldering all wires and try feeding the pll-bypass in from another angle before bending anything.
Pictures would be good if you can get them.

I believe that you know from the last one what the soldering should be like and most of your points in the pics dont look bad, only one i question is the STBY_CLK is it making good contact? and the other points are not bridged yes?

if you feel the soldering is good i would flash back the stock nand and see if you get RROD

hmm they all look good and the STBY_CLK feels fine i have a multimeter can someone tell me how to test the points before a resolder?

Thanks.

I had a jasper that refused to glitch when I solder to the normal stby_clk point but when I scratched the trace and soldered there it worked great. I would also take meter and check continutiy to the points next to all solder points to make sure a splash of solder did not bridge a connection. I would also reinstall the nandx program cable and leave it installed tell you know it is working.

http://www.ladyada.net/learn/multimeter/continuity.html give that a read

better explained than i can do on here with minimal effort
Hmm well i resoldered the STBY_CLK and the POST_OUT1 Because Post out looked like it was bridging, no success there at all still get the same issue, just did the Multimeter and cant really get that working, so i guess il solder the nand-x wire back on later, any idea what could have caused this?

I did have the Xbox Glitching before i put it back together.

I used the ALT point for STBY_CLK on my other Falcon and its still running and boots in under 5 seconds, and the point is very easy. I guess il try soldering to that if nothing else works.

HERE is the Alt point i used on my other console
