I have a Slim with a Liteon DG-16D4S 9504 drive on dashboard 12625. How important is it that I update my drive to the latest dash before proceeding with the RGH? If I update my dash then my drive will change to a 0272 and will become write-protected. I don't really feel like doing the Kamikaze hack. If I have a drive with stock fw will that prevent me from doing things in FSD? I would prefer to just do the RGH with this dash and drive fw rather than updating. I have a Benq drive lying around I could pop in there, so long as it fits in a slim with the different front bezel.

What is the best course of action?

Thanks

You have to update it but for being write protected you can use iso2god and play your games from the hard drive

No, you do not. Don't post crap information again.

EDIT: If your SPI is unlocked, then flash the latest 0272 LT firmware to it using your original OFW/dummy.bin as the source. Do the RGH to 13604 and you'll be fine.

For the record, I did exactly this for a customer who's slim was still on 9199.

Thanks Martin,

so the steps would be:

1. update fw to 0272 LT 2.0

2. do RGH

3. update to 13604

or are steps 2 and 3 backward?
