RGH Xell Reloader Not Booting

Hi

I have a Phat Jasper 512mb Elite, that has been RGH'd by someone else.

It has been working perfectly, with Xell Reloader installed by him.

I installed Dash Launch and FreeStyle Dash, and then decided to follow a guide to configure the launch.ini to autoboot into FSD Bad move :(

Upon rebooting my 360, I found it was unable to boot to anything - not even the Xell menu, I now just get a black screen.

I have tried with and without hdmi cables and used a av cable, as I read that might make a difference, but still nothing.

When starting up the xbox, I try to access Xell as I did previously, by using the reset button.

Also tried the normal way a hundred times, but still just a black TV screen.

I don't think the coolrunner installation has been damaged (no wires loose etc).

Clearly something happened software wise when I changed and uploaded the launch.ini, as it happened immediately upon rebooting.

I have been Googling all night, and am none the wiser.

Is there anything that I can do to fix this, and get back into the Xell menu?

At least if I could get to that I could FTP stuff, but since this mess up, the xbox isn't showing on my network.

The green light on 360 is normal - not blinking, but no output to any screen, and the controllers can't sync either.

The installer supplied me with the nanddump, and cpu/dvd keys.

Help appreciated

When you say "When starting up the xbox, I try to access Xell as I did previously, by using the reset button" I'm assuming you meant the eject button?

If you can't get into Xell then your only option is to solder in a nand programmer such as the NAND-x to reflash your nand.

Hi yes sorry I meant the eject button.

So soldering is my only option? I wish I knew what I had done wrong, I followed a guide which had worked perfectly until that point.

I have zero soldering skills, so am kind of fed up now...

Thanks for answering though

If he RGH it using the quick solder boards then just buy a Nand-x. But first I would remove your HDD and edit your launch.ini to boot the normal dash. See if that works first.

Here is mine if you are interested:

[QuickLaunchButtons]
BUT_X = Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0DE99990F586558

Highly doubt it will work. Sounds like you screwed the nand.

Don't worry, I done it before as well. Just need to remake the hack image or if he provided the built hacked image you can get a nand-x to write the image back.

What version of Dashlaunch did you install? I remember I encountered an issue before which was similar after I installed dashlaunch as well. I ended up having to reflash the nand with the nandx cause there was no way to get the console booting anything. If you paid somebody to mod it for you then you will most likely have to contact them or look for somebody else to do it.

Hi I used version 2.28 of DashLaunch.

So if I purchase the NandX, I would need to solder it onto my 360 to re-write the probable damaged nand?

Is there not a no solder option with this NandX?

Or alternative option?

I am confident the Coolrunner installation is fine, so no blame with the installer, it was definitely me that did this.

One thing Chris - how would I go about trying your suggested removing the hard drive and editing the launch ini?

I am willing to try anything, but am unsure how to change it, when I am unable to FTP in?

Thanks all I appreciate the help

Hi Yes I have tried booting with and without the hard drive attached.

Have been doing some research, and I have found methods of connecting and transferring from the 360 hard drive and a PC.

Before I attempt any of this, do you think it is worth trying, given that even without the 360 hard drive attached, I still have no picture on TV?

I don't mind giving it a go, if for instance the 360 hd data has been corrupted hence no picture. But I would have thought with it disconnected I would get something?

Ok I now have access to my 360 hard drive via my pc.

inside the Data/Content folder there is this launch.ini -

[QuickLaunchButtons]
BUT_X = Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0DE99990F586558
Default = Usb0:\Freestyle\default.xex
[Settings]
nxemini = true
pingpatch = true

This was my attempt to get FSDash to autoboot from my external usb drive.

When it was all working fine, it just booted to the Xell menu

I added DashLaunch and Freestyle Dash myself, which worked great, then all went wrong when I tried to edit the launch.ini to autoboot FSD.

What do I need to change, to try to get it working again?

I know its a long shot, but I want to try.

Off to bed now - got no sleep last night :(

Xell still should boot, launch.ini has nothing to do with xell. I dont see how could you corrupt the nand with dashlaunch. But if you did, you need nandx and soldering skills

Wasting time. You need to rewrite the nand image. It is 100% possible to mess up the nand image installing dashlaunch. it has happened to me with a old xenon jtag. Reworte image, then installed dash launch and it worked fine.

launch.ini doesn´t have much todo with the nand, (unless you include dashlunch with multibilder etc) but dashlaunch have EVERTHING todo with the nand.

Why?

Dashlaunch writes launch.xex to the nand, and thus it can screw things up. Small chance todo so, but it still is there...
