RGH RGH2.0 Falcon freezing on boot anim

Hi I've got a falcon that just doesnlt want to glitch properly, when I first RGH2.0'd it, it worked fine, so I transfered it to the case, then it wouldn't glitch at all, so I removed from the case and still nothing checked over and still seen nothing wrong, soldered and recheck all wires, even replaced ALL wires for new ones.

After a few days of messing on with different combos, I've reached a point where is glitches but freezes. It goes all stuttery/gltichy and makes crackling sounds on the TV and then freezes at the Xbox logo, or lets you into Metro dash but then freezes.

I'm also using a Phat Demon and a Coolrunner Rev C, I'm pretty sure they are both fine as I replaced the coolrunner already for a new 1, and the demon read and writes fine and boots stock nand image from the demon fine too.

I've pretty much tried the lot, but thought I'd post in here before I give up on this 1. I'm mainly after advice on issues with freezing or solving freezing.

I'm going to remove the demon and try just glitching the xbox nand. With nothing else attached just to 100% rule the Demon out (I tried with the demon installed but still had no luck.)

First of all, we need to see some images of your installation (CoolRunner and DemoN).

Have you moved CPU_RST away from the coils underneath to reduce electrical interference?

Its getting late here now, so I put it all away, I'll update tomorrow.

But I'm not really looking for please run me through how to RGH a xbox type thread. I've done 50 ish over the last year and a Half, including about 10 RGH2.0. and a few Triple nand systems.

I'm more looking at how you personally have solved freezing on a system, I know all the usual areas to avoid, and how to use shielded wire etc. I think I'm in unknown territory here, as re-routing and shielding has always worked before.

Does the demon reley POST data to demon toolbox too?
Because I'm getting "+3 " appearing in the Log? window. Before a little messing with the wires I was occasionally just getting "", but now I get the above consistantly. But it seems sluggish, and sometimes the picture is well behind the ring of light boot sequence.

Rrod on the way is a potential cause too.

In the case of a spelling error, I blame Tapatalk.

I just gave up in the end :( , removed everything and returned it to stock, I will just sell it on and move on to the next one.

It's a mystery as to why it wouldn't work tho, and I'd love to spend more time on it and get it working. I tried just about every type of wire, every position on the bottom and top, the best I ever got was it running for 1 minute then it froze again! As you can guess I went from ecstatic to suicidal in the space of a few seconds lol.

The config I had when I got it to last that long was, using standard blue wire, cut exactly to size, running topside of the board, stright to the edge of the board where the fan is, then along past the fan and up beside the fan connector. Then I had the "cap" point bridged, also another cap accross A and GND of value 33nf(tried many different ones too ranging from 1pf to 100nf). Then also had 3+2 bridged(tried all with and without too), with a cap in line on cpu-reset of value 180pf. (also tried many different values).

I have tried just about every idea/post out there and spent a full 4 days (probs 50ish hours) trying to gltich this B******, in the end I just can't justify spending anymore time on it, so have returned it to stock.
I even played a few hours on it after too not 1 sign of freezing at all on stock so I have no clue as to why it does on RGH2.0, it was fine on RGH1 too. RROD may be a possibility as it was in a pretty awful state when I got it, all gunked up with dust etc. The dvd drive was a joke too, clead it all up and works a treat now tho, not too bad really for £20 (console only). But time lost has cost me lol, normally only have to spend an hour or two, maybe a few more on RGH2.0's and dual/triple nands but this one just wouldn't give up the goods.

Just to reply here, it's a real humdinger. The issue I'm seeing here is that even with XeLL it's freezing when you try to run something (i.e MPlayer freezes on the loading screen), so it eliminates the dashboard being the cause.

How did you manage that? What wires? Timing File etc?

Ill take it apart tomorow and take some pics. Not sure if it helped but wire direct to chip on cr rev a instead of pad d. Also threaded yelow wire between cpu and out through where the fan sits then up to cr and trimed it as short as I could.. If that makes sence. I did the d pad thing because I ripped the pad off manuvering double shielded cable :banghead:.. All wires are now stock except I used slim blue wire for extra length then trimed it down and used cap and resitor to get boots. Will post more tomoz when I can bring the camera home. Also put a pad on the top of the usb ethernet block to remove chances of shorting to demon ribon board.. Not sure if this helps stop any interference though. Also stuck ribon up high along the top of the chassis at the side of the drive.timing file b

Was also thinking of putting a rubber block under cr to raise it up and away from any intrference it may be getting (just a thought). Did not need to in the end.

Oh and another thing.. Cap and resistor are situated in the centre of blue wire and taped to the top of the fan shroud along with one wind of the blue cable.

Thought I'd break the box back out today as I had nothing else todo lol. Tried what d34n0 suggested, but still freezes. But I've got it constantly booting in under a minute, but its freezing from anywhere from 20 - 120 seconds after booting all the time!

Current config is just all standard wires, blue wire for CPU_RESET(topside), its routed outside the metal case @ power connector, under case, and comes back in near ethernet/USB connector then connected to pad D, I have no resistors or caps.

I actually switched to using VGA and at first it was set at a low screen resolution, and low and behold it lasted a long time untill it froze, so now I'm maybe thinking it does have something to do with RROD being on the way lol, maybe a HANA issue?

I Will reflow the HANA and maybe the GPU too tomorrow, just took x-clamps off and the Thermal pad on the GPU Heatsink is rock solid, never seen one that bad before, its normally at least plyable, this is like concreate!

Maybe update again tomorrow.

Maybe something wrong with cpu, hana or southbridge. Try flowing? Or completely swapping out the parts?

My guess would be the cpu is faulty, maybe it isn't going back to full speed or something.

On the falcon I had problems with mentioned in the OP, I reflowed everything but the RAM, still got same freezing, I managed to get it to work for longer by playing with caps and resistors. But it still always froze after 1-3 mins. So I just restored it to stock.
