RGH RGH2 Coolrunner need confirmation of the process

I'll try to keep this short.

I have purchased:
jr programmer v2
nandx phat qsbs
coolrunner rev c

I have a phat falcon and currently I have the Qsbs soldered to the board and have successfully taken 4 nand dumps that are confirmed as the same.

The issue is that I have several guides with conflicting information between youtube and tutorials. When duming the nand I am told by this guide:

http://www.ixtreme.net/jtag-rgh/20078-reset-glitch-hack-guide-using-tx-coolrunner.html

Check the number in the 2BL [CB] field. The CB needs to be one of the following to use RGH1.

Zephyr: 4578, 4579
Falcon and Opus: 5771
Jasper: 6750, 6751

Mine reads 5774 therefore I am advised to use the RGH2 method. I am correct in thinking that I do not need to write xell? When writing xell the console boots but the screen is blank both with the hdmi and av cable, I have written back the original nand dump and the console is now displaying again.

Also in accordance with the previous guide after doing the nand dumps, the next thing I needed to do is to program the cool runner using a rgh2 setting in jrunner and selecting falcon for my particular case, I have done this ensuring the cool runner was set to phat and had the prog switch set.

So am I also now right in thinking i simply set the switch to norm and soldering the cool runner to the board in accordance with this guide:

http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86539

Using of course the rgh2 wiring method.

Just to sum it up, do I not need xell as many guides and tutorials seems to talk about this and the cpu key etc. Do I simply, dump the nands (done), program the cool runner (done), solder the coolrunner to rgh2 wiring specs and the job done?

Yes xell is the first step in the process after the wiring this is needed to get your CPU key to allow you to create the freeboot image, just follow the proper guides on this site but to be honest you would be better getting R-JTAG for a Falcon as RGH 2 is not too good with boot times.

I actually disagree with this... It takes more work and trial and error to get a Falcon to A) boot in reasonable times and B) Be freaking stable... but, once you dial everything in, they work just as well as any Jasper ive ever glitched...

try reading some of this material:

a lot of users have had eventual luck with the SMC config and settings...

Many thanks for the comments guys. I'll certainly check the link out, had a brief scan, but there's a few pages to go.

R-JTAG is easy with Falcons, they are a pain in the ass with RGH 2 so disagree all you like but this is a fact...

got to admit with c8 removed never had a falcon on rgh2 take longer than 20 seconds to boot. switch set to slim most are between 5-15 seconds
