RGH RGH2 : Falcon, not glitching, but there's something weird..

Hi guys,

Hopefully one of you has seen this before, cause I'm at a loss here. This box was sent to me by another modder who couldn't get it to glitch, so I'm taking a shot at it right now.

Falcon, 2.0.14719, so RGH2.

Using CR, rev. A, C15 removed, falconrgh2 timing file.

So, the usual RGH2 candidate. The other guy had already written the xell ecc to it, so first thing I did was flash back the stock nand which he mailed. Xbox boots up without a hassle.

Using Multibuild 0.95, created the .ecc, flashed it. Flashed the coolrunner, wired it.

Green led comes on and off at the appropriate intervals (5 seconds wait, 2-3 seconds led) so it's trying to glitch.

Tried Martin C.'s method with 470pF/2kOhm, 680pF/3.3kOhm, 470pF/3.3kOhm and also used (because it once worked on a stubborn Jasper rgh2) a 2.2ohm resistor. All these 4 cases I left the xbox on for about 10 minutes, sometimes longer. Also used the phat/slim switch on both positions. It never glitched.

But here's the weird thing : the center led on the RF board should be blinking when there's no DVD drive attached. It doesn't. Just a solid light, all the time.

I flashed back stock and put the switch to prg on the CR, just to check, but it boots without problems then (and also with blinking led, since the dvd drive isn't attached...).

Anybody any idea or suggestions what else I could try ? (I can't use the newer falcon rgh2 file, since that is xsvf only and my tool can only use .jed or .svf files.. don't ask..).

(btw, I see I had the shroud removed when i recorded the movie, but this was attached all the other times, so it wasn't overheating (at least not the other times).

Hello, have you tried this :
1. Add 10 ohm resistor on PAD D
2. Use low loss 50ohm cable to replace that yellow wire? (CPU-RST / PAD D)
3. Try playing or replacing/removing CPU-RST Wire
4. Use J-Runner to create all RGH files (create ECC, write ECC etc)

And..if you dont see blinking LED on RF board, it is pretty normal, because i've seen Xbox with no blinking that glitch too.

The green LED stays on because CPU_RST isn't releasing. in other words, there's too much signal on the CPU_RST so remove the caps for now.

Try a normal kynar wire for CPU_RST. (link removed)

I tried using kynar only (30awg) last night. No caps.. still no joy. If you could provide a .jed or .svf version of said xsvf, I would be very grateful.

I wired it alongside the heatsinks as per your posts in the other topic ("Any headway with Falcon..").

Yeah, I know, but that's a 1gb+ installation and I don't have that much space anymore on my vbox environment. Was hoping some kind soul would help me out here
Moreover, the last time I tried it (previous PC), iMPACT decided the love between him and my Xilinx USB Programmer was over..

iMPACT isn't that big. You don't need the SDK, just the Lab Tools themselves

i know that its been mentioned that with the CPU_rst wire routed in front of the fans people have problems. my falcon wouldn't glitch till i moved the wire over the fan shroud. with that movement i went from 15 min no glitch to glitching erratic in under 2-4 min.

OK, I've got iMPACT running again and it's recognizing my USB Cable. Now, how do I play the xsvf file ? I can only select .jed/.isc or .bsd ?

A bit more detail :

Created new project, add Xilinx Device, xsvf type. Set output to Cable Auto Connect.
Then doubleclick on the execute svf/xsvf file in the lower left pane and it played the file in 7 seconds to my Coolrunner.

Did the wire over the shroud, 30cm, kynar 30awg. Will try what it does when I route it alongside the edge of the board.

update : over the shroud works. Running the wire alongside the heatsinks doesn't make it glitch, running the wire along the edge of the board next to the fans doesn't make it glitch either. Usually 1-3 glitches and it boots xell.
However, I do have to keep the wire up in the air, when I tape it down to the shroud it will not glitch at all. Any idea on how I can fix this ? I mean, it's nice it glitches and all, but I would like to put the case back on at some point

Ok.. put it back together and times are now that it glitches under 2 minutes. Sometimes under 30 secs and sometimes not all (>5 mins). I'm sending this back to my colleague
