Why is it everytime I try to do one of these it Fubars?! God.

Anyway, I installed my NAND-X QSB's. Dumped my Nand, twice. Got a few bad blocks, but both nands matched.

Flashed CR with RGH2 A. Wrote EEC. Tried to boot Xell and watched my CR Flash, and flash, and flash, and flash, and flash.... for over half an hour....never booted Xell. Decided to change my CR's flash... unplugged Xbox. Switched to PRG, flashed CR with Falcon flash. Plugged xbox back in and it randomly started to boot on its own to Red Ring of Death?! Got it to shut down long enough to flash back to stock nand and still the same issue, its trying to boot on its own to RRoD and no fan running. What the hell happened?!?!

Here's links to pics... theyre big so Ill link rather than directly post...

I can tell you there's a short somewhere, not entirely sure where from your pics, I'd start with the QSBs as they're the easiest to screw up and short something on. Of course those happen to be the blurry pics in the lot so I'm not sure what specific point to tell you to check.

Ill snap some better pics of the soldering if I can. Grr. My CR isnt even lighting up at the moment and Im getting an Instant RRoD. Its not doing anything at all. At least when I first tried it was at least glitching.

You're managing to short 3.3v standby into something by the sound of it then. Lemme guess, power brick has a red light too?

I possibly found my issue... if you look at this pic:

http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/3371/dscn0562tr.jpg

My red wire from the CR goes from the 3v3 spot on the CR to the 3v3 spot on the QSB. BUT! According to this: http://team-xecuter.com/coolrunner/revc/tx_revc_phat_rgh2.jpg

My 3v3 is supposed to go to the Pad right next to where F (Brown) Goes... and theres no point on the QSB that touches that spot... is that my issue?

Personally I've never used the QSBs, but it looks like it's shifted slightly off-center in that last pic you pointed out, try using some desoldering braid to clean it all up, chances are there's a little whisker of solder bridging something that you can't see. The spots next to E and F are both 3.3v, so if at least one of those has a pad on the QSB you should be fine. Also a red light on the power brick means there's a short-circuit somewhere, I again blame the QSBs, clean 'em up with some desoldering braid and see where that gets you.

Grrr. Ok, after some re-work... I moved the 3v3 pad from the QSB to the point mentioned in the tutorial. Now when the xbox is plugged in I get a red light on the CR by PWR. And still an Orange light on at the power pack. Man oh man, I wish I knew what happened... here's the Jrunner Log... it finally published it.

And with that, I currently get nothing on power up, no fan, nothing but RRoD on the console and an orange light at the brick. Did I fry this thing?

Tried another brick just for kicks and got the same results. Stuck doing absolutely nothing... its odd....

I never use qsb's either. It's interesting that they use the switched 3v3 header instead of 3v3 standby.

Your qsb might have a broken trace on it. Try using a wires only install. Also you have aluminum wire strands from the coax ground on your motherboard. You might have shorted out something.

Im trying to install the CR into another Jasper that has no onboard memory. Hoping for better luck. Any suggestions before I get in too deep?

If you want me to look at that BB Jasper along with your Falcons, lemme know, it's no big deal, sounds like you've still got a short on the board, or dead mosfets. I'd take Slayer's advice on the new one, use the alt standby clock on the bottom since it's a heck of a lot easier to solder, and avoid those QSBs if you can, too risky if you get a bit too much solder on 'em. Also heatshrink over the end of your shielded CPU_RST cable so there's none of the shield exposed to short out on things.

Ok, Im going for the wires install, it doesnt really seem much harder to be honest so..

Ive got the NAND Dumped on it already, gonna take a break for an hour or two and get back on it. When I do, I'll try a wire only install. Should I stick with trying to use the shielded cable on the 16mb Jasper or use the blue wire, I've read a few places that Jaspers tend to have issues with that shielded cable?

And If I can fit the BB Jasper in the large flat rate box with the falcons I'll definately take you up on that, I think its a minor issue with it, and Im overthinking it. It could've blown something. I tried flashing stock nand back and even after removing the CR its still RRoD. Im lost. I even did the XClamp fix on the cpu.. might try it on the GPU as well.. It wasn't rrod before I started so I dont know what its issue is, but Im not even getting anything on my TV from it at this point.

Skip the X-Clamp fix on the Jasper, it doesn't need it, I can tell you that just from the fans not spinning. It's a power issue, not a CPU/GPU issue. As far as the 16mb Jasper, you may as well start with the regular blue cable, see where it gets you :) I've had some systems that don't need the shielded cable to get good boot times, others do need it, so it's a matter of finding what works for your particular console.

Ok, Thanks x2. I found the alt stby_clk, I know where I'm goin now. Gonna give it a go with the Blue cable first, and I've also read that they tend to glitch well on the falcon's cr flash? Or should I just start with A, and work my way down?

That's kinda what I was thinking too with the BB Jasper and the fans, usually a normal RRoD will still spin fans. They don't even offer at this point. That's kinda why I was thinking something on the board blew like you said.

Ok... so the 16mb Jasper spins the fans and goes instant as well. What the hell is wrong??? I think my Cool Runner is FUBAR. It only lights up the power light. The Debug light doesnt cycle.... is it junkified? At least this Jasper tries to spin fans.

AHHAHAHHA?!?!??! WTF I took the CR back off the 16mb Jasper and it RRoD. I plugged it into a different power brick and it fired up NXE. What the hell is going on?!?!?!

---------- Post added at 10:08 ---------- Previous post was at 10:04 ----------

And it only fires without the DVD drive, if I plug in a DVD drive it RRoD's. What the hell.

Check the resistors and point above the stby_clk. That's a common sign u messed something there.

I give up, this is ridiculous. I've toasted two jaspers trying to RGH them. Grrr.
