Hey guys, this is more of a Slayer's install question. I installed that Slayer's when I modded, and it copied a bunch of apps over. I'm wondering how I can backup a DVD I rented? I went into XMBC and it states that the DVD is 7 gigs.. well, I just want divx quality, so like 800 megs or 1 gig max. Is there a way to do this without going thru my PC first? (i dont have a dvd rom in my pc)

As far as I know, and I've looked all over too, there aren't any Xbox apps that will compress DVD video into a more managable file size/format. I really wish there were, though. Even for DVDs that someone already owns - it's the portability that's nice.

I used dvd2xbox to copy Napolean Dynamite to my Xbox while I was borrowing it from a friend. Either the disc itself was small for a DVD, or it only copied the main VOBset, because it ended up being around 4 gigs. The movie played thru XBMC just fine, although there were no menus, and accessing any of the subVOBs just gave me an ugly light show. Still, if you just want to rip one or two DVDs in a hurry or something, it works.

It is showing 7.55 gig because the disk you are wanting to rip is a dual layer disc and will take up that much space. Unless you have that much space on a larger drive you have installed

I've dumped about 80 movies to XviD. You have to do it on your PC for many reasons, the most pertainent is there's no software for the XBOX that will do it for you.

How about, BAD.

Don't backup DVDs you rented...only ones you own.

Sheesh. If you want to do something completely illegal, at least figure it out yourself.

Indeed.

Information on the net is freely available so I posted it. What he chooses to do with that information is and never will be any of my concern. :)
