Hello everyone,

I was wondering if it is possible to rip XGD3 games with x360usb Pro v2 and Samsung ms28. I know that Samsung isn't AP2.5-capable, but shouldn't it still be possible to use it in combination with X360usb Pro v2 to rip XGD3 games? If so, are there any disadvantages of doing that (compared to ripping games with X360usb Pro v2 and any AP2.5-capable drive)?

Thanks

I think your missing the big picture,... Firmware.
Thanks for the reply. Could you please elaborate though? I was under the impression that the drive does not need to have neither LT nor 0800 firmware on it in order to rip games with x360usb pro 2.

Took me seconds to find this http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=137763 the search function is there for a reason

Thank you for the reply. I've read that thread before posting. One poster in that thread says that it is impossible to rip XGD3 games with Samsung and X360usb pro v2. However, if that was indeed true, I would expect the specs to explicitly mention the fact that some drives (such as Samsung) are incapable of ripping XGD3 games. Yet, the official x360usb specifications say, and I quote:

"No custom firmware required, no 0800 firmware required, ANY stock 360 Drive can be used to rip backups using a new upcoming version of XBC with a fully optimized profile giving total support for XGD3 with the data throughput supporting the maximum possible bus speed using ANY stock 360 DVD Drive model (That's all Phat and all Slim models – including the Hitachi 0500 !)."

I am going to go on a limb and say that the majority of people reading the specs would assume that they can buy x360usb pro v2 and use any stock 360 drive to rip XGD3 games.

Am I reading the specs wrong?

Thanks again

While a Samsung drive can be used for ripping, you should take note that you can not rip AP2.5 data with a Samsung drive as they are not capable of doing it.

The ISO must be patched with ABGX to ensure the backup conforms with LT+ standards.

My personal choice for a ripping drive would be a phat Lite-On or BenQ drive.

if you use the original FW the dvd key must be in the JF database......
Thanks for the reply. Let's assume that the DVD key is in the JF database and I am trying to rip an XGD3 game with Samsung drive and x360usb pro v2.

While a Samsung drive can be used for ripping, you should take note that you can not rip AP2.5 data with a Samsung drive as they are not capable of doing it.

Thank you. This answers all my questions.
