Ahead of Grand Theft Auto V's fast approaching release in September, Rockstar have expanded The Crews feature in its Social Club to include a new hierarchy structure, which will allow crew leaders to assign ranks and impose responsibilities to their minions. "The first of many Rockstar Games Social Club features we'll be introducing for Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online is the all-new Hierarchies system for Social Club Crews - borne directly out of feedback from the Social Club community," Rockstar wrote in an announcement via its Newswire. "Available for all Crew Leaders right now at the Social Club website, the Hierarchies feature allows the Leader of the Crew to assign special ranks to members, designating the responsibilities of Crew management and assuring that loyalty and performance are rewarded appropriately."

Whilst all crew members automatically start out as 'muscle,' a crew leader can designate special ranks across four different tiers. These tiers are:

- Commissioners

A leader's right-hand woman/man. According to Rockstar, "Commissioners have the power to manage and administrate all aspects of the Crew on behalf of the Leader, including the ability to promote members internally or invite new members in."

- Lieutenants

These are crew members with "specific privileges to keep the Crew in check and hand out promotions or demotions amongst sub-ordinate ranks."

- Representatives

Representitives are individuals who have proven themselves committed and loyal to the crew and its cause, "whether with ace performance in competitive modes, or just by rocking their Crew's emblem faithfully since day one," and thus can use their influence to recruit new members into the fold.

- Muscle

The default rank for any aspiring crew member, Rockstar describes Muscle as "the rank-and-file mob of Crew members who are happy to play their position of causing some havoc Online, doing their Crew's emblem justice and fighting for its good name. Muscle-level members may not have nor want any administrative power but they're often the heart and soul of what makes your Crew fearsome. Ambitious Muscle who are looking to prove themselves to the Crew Leader and rise up the ranks may even prove a threat to their Crew superiors, if any are deemed to be slacking on their responsibilities or performance."
The news post goes on to explain that there are no limits to how many members a crew member can assign to each rank, so it'll be up to leaders whether to let anarchy reign or favour a more rigidly upheld hierarchy. Starting now, crew leaders and commissioners can organise and keep tabs of their crew via a Crew Management page, where they can also demote and promote members as they see fit.
Have you got your crew ready and waiting to go?
In other, equally important GTA news, Rockstar's soundtrack supervisor, Ivan Pavlovich has told Rolling Stone that we can expect quite a lot of music in GTA 5. "We have 15 radio stations, two talk radio stations, 240 licensed songs, and somewhere in the proximity of 20 movies worth of score. It's the largest soundtrack that we've done, and the largest score that we've done," he said.
