Ok im hoping i am being extremely stupid, but when mapping the debug light from my CR3L to the ROL, one of the LED's is very dim.

Here is showing all LED's work correctly and are bright.

Here showing when i connect the debug LED to the + side of the upper LED

And again against the lower LED

Here if i map it to the player 1 LED

Any ideas? (its the same effect if i solder it, im just holding it for photo purposes)

Try soldering it, if nothing changes then try replacing the led.

Yeh it's the same if soldered.
No point changing the LED as it clearly works fine as it lights up the same brightness when nothing is soldered to it :(

Do you have a diode between your cr and the rf-module? If not, try that and connect the other end directly to the xilinx chip (dont know if cr3 uses the resistor to drop the voltage as on the older CR).

i have 2x 1409 RF Modules, both with the exact same mod so can test on the same xbox, one works fine - one has this dim LED.

The CR3L doesnt require a diode.

i really cant get my head round this :S

Edit here are pictures to explain:

Here is my old 1409 RF Module (note both the same brightness)

Here is my new 1409 module (notice 1 is dim)

Is your wire faulty, take a new wire, this one looks too slim.

Well both have HW1409 on them so not sure how else I can check?

Thanks for helping Martin, I hoped you would spot this soon :)

The brightness of the LEDs is directly proportionate to the voltage being fed. I would therefore get a meter and check them both for comparison.

Look over both boards and see if one has any extra components (resistors, caps etc).

I understand this, but I would have though connecting the debug wire directly to the LED bypasses any resistors etc? And that LED would receive the full power.

I'll check tonight for any missing hardware though

It's a parallel circuit, so not necessarily. You can't isolate an LED when it's in circuit. It's the same reason why we need to lift resistors/caps from faulty boards to test them.

Is it possible the LED is defective? I have replacement I can solder in its place.
I would say its probably not defentive as it lights up without the debug cable. I would like you to measure the other side of the dim led and the other parallel led and see it its grounded properly when not in use by the xbox, measure the voltage drop over the leds and measure resistance againt gnd when debug light is lit. Compare it to the other rf-module you have.

I'll measure everything tonight.
These tests will just prove something is wrong though (that's already evident) I'm just curious how to fix it?

The only thing I can think off is its not grounding correctly but the fact it works fine when nothing is connected puzzles me

Thanks for all the support though
