I just finished RGH'ed my jasper and it went pretty good considering that its my first one. Everything went according to plan until I try to launch xell to get my cpu key. Then an rrod error 0031 came out???

What I did after; I went over all my solder and did some minor soldering touch up. Didn't solve it.

I'm using coolrunner rev.b + nand-x usb + jtag tool

I'm new to RGH so any help would be much apreciated.

Thanks.

In what order did you apply them? How many washers between motherboard and heatsink and what thickness?
I apply them in a X manner and i'm using 2 m5 washers x screw. Thickness i have no clue but it gives the exact same thing as the original spacers.

SOmething is shorting then I realy dont know what it is, like I said I rechecked all my solder and I didnt see any possible short

Maybe I should go back to the x clamps?

So two washers between motherboard and heatsink, yes?

Did you replace them because you were getting RRoD?
Yes thats it 2 washers between motherboards and heatsink.

No I did it to prevent rrod but I think I did the contrary if that the probem.

So you didn't replace them because of RRoD?

Why mess with them? Makes no sense whatsoever. You can't 'prevent' RRoD any more than you can prevent solder from failing due to thermal cycles.

Remove the bolts completely - rest the heatsinks on the board and fire up.

I dont know if is normal with err 0031 but the fans arent running.... When I press power button, 1 sec after the rrod comes on and the fans stop.

Is this after doing as I suggested and removing the bolts completely and resting the heatsinks?
No It did this from the start

so remove all soldering and clean up, then try again.

If it still doesn't work, you've damaged something in the process of unnecessarily removing the x-clamps.

When im installing a coolrunner or jtag i always remove the xclamps and repaste because moving the board about with the heatsinks on can break the seal created by the thermal stuff ms puts on and then your heatsinks will not be performing properly after. I started doing this after comparing temps arfter install on systems where id not removed and repasted and ones where i did. Besides if youve got it apart anyway fresh paste wont do it any harm
