Hi. I have bought a RROD JTAG motherboard from fleabay which I'll fix.

However, there was no DVD drive with the motherboard, and I understand the DVD key can be extracted from the motherboard. If I extract the key, do I need to know which model of DVD the console had- or can I skip it and just boot from HD?

Yea if no drive is in the console and freeboot is flashed it will go to xell ,

Unless u choose the option in jtag tool for no dvd or put a jumper in on drive power connector on the board
Then it should boot freeboot/nxe

I prefer the jumper method as a dvd drive can be put in without having to flash nand

If you want to get to xell after any of these methods or a drive installed, when freeboot is flashed power on with eject and you boot xell

You can pull the model from the NAND using 360 flash tool or CS's JtagTool. However, I dont believe you need to spoof it. As long as the correct key is flashed, the console will read games perfectly.

I have done this with my Falcon. I replaces the BenQ drive with a Hitachi 59. Works flawlessly.
