JTAG rrod on jtags

hi i have 2 jtags 1 xenon and 1 falcon updated both to 13599 freeboot dash both went ok and booted up no problem restarted them a few times no problem but out of the blue they have both come dwn with 1 rrod 1 displaying e79 which doesnt display that no more and 1 shows e74, could it be because i updated them any help thanks

check the wiring for the e79 but the e74 may need a reflow/reball.

thanks m8 jst thought it was abit ov a coincidense both rrod at same time my falcon only had a reflow bout 2-3 week ago aswell would it not av bin the update no as they both powered on and booted to dash etc and after a few reboots

the fact it was reflowed not long ago is irrelevant, e74 can be a dead gpu which would mean a reflow isnt good enough and it needs a a new gpu, not saying this is the issue just a possibility.

thats the e79 one think its going 2 get rebaled that one anyway as the gpu/xbox dnt display nothing now it went in for reflow as i could see it was gettin blocks over my avatar then crash so reball would fix that i think i hope lol my xenon e74 will be the same now

if they were mine id personally get them reballed anyway, jtags are worth looking after and a reflow is not a permanent fix.

its as permanent as you can get assuming they use leaded solder balls and a good GPU.

y does the whole gpu chip need to be lifted/replaced

because they die, theyre sh*te and after reflows it can totally kill them plus the fact that microsoft use lead free solder which is terrible and its better to replace with leaded.

i can only boot to xell/xellous on my xenon and it says looking for updflash on optical media strange any help anyone ???

it sounds like you have a corrupt nand. i assume its the e79 asking for optical media. never done it that way but sounds to me like it is looking for the freeboot image to flash from a dvd when you boot xellous.

xell/xellous is only writen to the start of the nand i believe and the rest could be corrupted. e79 shows for corrupt nand and bad jtag wiring. because your seeing xell though your wiring is probably fine.

not strange at all, ive had loads of red light jtags that will boot xell but red light on booting dash.

someone told me to put my updflash on a usb and plug it in 360 and boot xell said something bout an update lol
