his vids tell it all he doesn't clean the chips properly he is also grinding the iron on the bga not good. There is no need for all that tinfoil either. I use mek to clean the chips with two reasons it eats the hell out of the thermal paste and flux residues but most important removes moisture. I have never had an unfixable virgin console. Just because you have an expensive machine and slight knowledge doesn't mean you know what your doing. When I opened west coast consoles in Reno NV I was constantly repairing the other shops screw ups. I would only trust people on this site who know what they are doing. Reballing is a skilled trade and took me some time to learn well worth it I might add. He could have possibly reballed a dead gpu onto the board don't know why the hell you would first thing I do is check the resistance on c5d5 to see if it needs replacing and then again I check it after its been reballed. For ease on my part I just have about 50 reballed chips here so when I recieve your board I can just lift clean and flow all in one motion instead of taking hours it takes 10 minutes and then I reball the chips at night if they are good if the resistance is near the end of its lifespan I just toss them. I also have a 6 month guarantee on reballs.

and why the hell would you power the console while its missing a heatsink of course it will throw up rrod.
I love the vid he's got where he slams a local competitor that I was considering at first... apparently all they do is x-clamp fix, when I called them all the guy there would tell me was "I don't wanna give away any trade secrets, but it's a reliable fix..." which is what made me doubt their credibility and trust this guy to begin with. Missouri really sucks!

If they wont tell you what they are doing they are scammers straight up. The local competitor back in my home town slammed me when he started. People would always come running to me when he made it worse he heat gunned on griddle and called it a repair. I went to him to test his skills with a fried liteon he said he could fix he burned the board up even more and said I caused the damage that's how it was when he recieved it.

0102 is not ALWAYS the GPU. It's been known to be caused by the RAM modules, CPU, Southbridge or the HANA. So you have to test them all one by one.

This is time consuming and I know a few repair guys who will reball the GPU and if it doesn't work not go any further as the extra time involved is not worth the money they will get from it.

It's not 100% dead, but it just means it's not the GPU. There is a whole thread on stubborn 0102 errors over on the CVX forums where there are quite a lot of reballers (inc me) over there. Luckily I have personally not encountered such a problematic 0102 console, but it does happen and a GPU reball is not a 100% guaranteed fix, however it works 98% of the time.

EDIT: After reading this thread fully it seems like this person should be avoided at all costs. However just a bit of info above for folk that 0102 is not always the GPU.
