Well apparently my friend called M$ support for a frozen 360 and apparently got into a long chat with the M$ tech support guy, and the guy told my friend that Capcom and Epic games are really pissed at M$ because after all the bans the online servers for the games made by those companies are nearly empty, because everyone has been banned, and most games now are designed to be played online and to not have that ability makes the game almost useless. Not to mention M$ is also realizing just how much money they are loosing through marketplace sales, it seems they are seriously starting to regret their actions.

Again this may all be complete BS, but my friend really has no reason to lie, I figure I'll just keep my ears open and see what happens.

Oh and also they guy said that M$ would in the next three months create some sort of procedure for unbanning modded xbox's and from then on would only ban those who alter the games, for purposes of hacking. So it seems their main concern isn't people burning "game backups" but rather people altering the game data on the disk to allow themselves an advantage in online play.

I'll keep my fingers crossed...

ive heard the same thing yesterday. that online has been so bad that there thinking about redoing it. i was told that the number of modded consoles are almost equal to unmodded consoles and in some places even more. i do have a friend who plays online still and he confirmed that the online gaming has been just plain horrible at best takes forever for a game to start and at night you might as well just not even try. i guess microsoft only thought a small amount would be banned but so many have that its costing them huge loses in the long run and going to give ps3 a huge advantage to catch up. also it was released that halo 3 will give xbox the first profitible time ever and if so many system are banned all the people who preorder will just cancel or have been gettin refunds or etc and wont be able to play it so they will be screwin themselves with that to. so we will see if all this comes to be true or made up soon enough!

Seems all too fantasy land to me.

I seriously doubt that M$ will ever un-ban any consoles. Rules are put into place to help maintain order (this site is a perfect example) and to try and keep a level playing field for the honest gamer that pays for everything and I don't see them turning back for any reason.

Now don't get me wrong...playing my store bought backed-up games at home or through my own personal network at home or even on XBConnect with my buddies is way cool but when you think of all of the people that have earned the right to play Halo3 Beta online (whether luck of the draw or retail version of Crackdown which I have) they have got to be kinda "steamed" (as well as M$ even though they are money grubbing criminals themselves...ever heard of "Apple Rip Off" back in the day?) when they hear of all of the bragging H3 Beta cracked disc being used on XBL.

Not sure what games your bud's are playing but Halo3 Beta had about 30K total playing after midnight last night and games popped up very quickly. Halo 2 is still kicking along nicely also. Maybe your copy of Viva Piñata might not be drawing very many opponents online now-a-days but Halo sure is brining them in just as before.

M$ unbanning. My guess...it ain't gonna happen. (even though for a lot of folks it would be pretty cool)!

JMHO...

I would like to see the proof where modded consoles are about equal in numbers to unmodded consoles...

At least in US, the number of modded consoles are much smaller than the number of unmodded consoles. But not sure about the online consoles.

as if they would unban. Microsoft would look really stupid going against their own rules and the company's that make games for 360 will be very pissed, they'll be earning nothing at all. also everyone would get there 360 modded no business for game company's on the 360.

i have to say i doubt it very much 4 a big company like m$ never go bk on decisons as much as i would love my console to be unbanned seems like ur barking up the wrong tree. M$ dont care they will still have a multi million dollar turn over this year and next year. if you consider u can dwnload games and be playing with in 40mins they r not trying to increase revinues by banning consoles but make a statement to people who havnt modified there consoles yet IF U MOD U WILL GET BANNED FROM LIVE. sure plenty of poeple dnt ply live but the thousands that do will always keep there console unmodded there for having to buy original games even if they have brought them b4. its just hard luck for us who found out the hard way.

however maybe one day we will beable to fix. we need to know how they identify modded drives or/and how they identify and aply the ban to the console. there must b a reason we all get simlar errors i have a hunch and only a hunch that when u get banned data enters ur box not allowing it to connect to the xblive server. or our console has been writen 2 so will not allow to connect. if sum 1 who new alot about xboxs or had a degree in computer science could take a moded and unmoded console look at the codeing of the o/s and the coding of the drive and check differnces maybe we cood get on be on the right track

added after surfing a bit more
This serial number is wrote on SSDP, that's not here because SSDP work only locally.
But in the kerberos before the last packet (KRB5-REQ) you can seen a UUID look like this [email protected]
XXXXXXX = is a unique ID for each xbox, tested with another HD this number don't change.
All banned xbox stop negociating just after this kerberos packet. The banned ID is this one.
I'm working to understand all the kerberos protocol (most RFC ;-) ) and will write a "anonymiser".
This is not really hard because this id is not encrypted.

Thanks to birdy the tech bit was his work but i guss my thereoy was rite :')
