Running Games From External HD ??

I just completed a soft mod that went great. However, upgrading the HD in a softmodded box is a bit complicated. Since there are USB adapters for the controller ports, I was wondering if there's any way to connect an external hard drive and run backups from it ? I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere on the forums. Is it possible ?

Its not possible to use an external hard drive. The xbox does not have the drivers to be compatible with an external hard drive and therefore cannot run it. There is also no way that you can install additional drivers into the xbox. If you had done a search you would have found this out by now. In terms of usb memory, the only thing that can be used is a memory stick as it acts as a memory card.

OK thanks. I did some searches but didn't find the exact information that I was looking for. I probably wasn't searching on the correct words.

By the way, where are the drivers located ? In the dashboard ? Many versions of both the BIOS and the dashboard are hacked so what would prevent somebody from writing drivers to do this ? Is this some sort of built-in security that restricts the number of hard drives and/or partitions ?

I'm thinking its cuz drivers that work for the HDD are written for Windows, and to get something like an external HDD to work on the Xbox, you would have to program your own drivers. That's my guess.
